SEQ. OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br />ADDING DEFINITIONS OF SCHOOL YEAR AND SUMMER, AND AMENDING <br />THE DEFINITION OF GAME HALL: FURTHER AMENDING CHAPTER 4 1/2, <br />ARTICLE 1, SECTION 4 1/2-18, BY CHANGING THE HOURS OF OPERATION <br />THAT GAME HALLS AS DEFINED MAY REMAIN OPEN, AND RESTRICTING THE <br />HOURS OF OPERATION OF ANY SKILL OR PLEASURE ORIENTED COIN <br />OPERATED MACHINE IN COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS: ADDING A NEW <br />SECTION TO CHAPTER 4 1/2, ARTICLE I, BEING SECTION 4 1/2-27, <br />SAID NEW SECTION REQUIRING A NOTICE TO BE CONSPICUOUSLY PLACED <br />ON ALL SKILL OR PLEASURE ORIENTED COIN OPERATED MACHINES <br />DESIGNATING THE HOURS SAID MACHINES ARE TO BE USED BY MINORS: <br />PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE <br />SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION <br />SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS <br />($200.00): CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE: FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETING LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. Chapter 4 l/2, Article 1, Section 4 1/2-1, <br /> <br />of the Code of Ordinances of the Ci ty of La Porte is hereby <br /> <br />amended, by adding thereto definitions of school year and <br /> <br />summer, and by amending the definition of game hall to include <br /> <br />those halls (as defined) which operate four (4) or more skill <br /> <br />or pleasure-oriented coin operating machines, to hereafter <br /> <br />read read as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />"Section 4 1/2-1. Definitions. <br /> <br />(A) Game hall,. A game hall is any room, <br />hall, building, tent or enclosed or partially <br />enclosed space or any part thereof, including <br />the parking lot to said structure and any <br />area having a primary use of providing <br />parking space for patrons of such, in which <br />is exhibited for hire, revenue, fee or gain <br />of any kind four (4) or more skill or <br />pleasure oriented coin-operated machines. <br /> <br />The following shall be exempted from the <br />terms of this article: <br /> <br />(1) Any corporation or association <br />organized and operated exclusively for <br />religious, charitable, educational or <br />benevolent purposes, no part of the net <br />earnings of which inure to the benefit <br />of any private shareholder or individual, <br />
