<br />Section 1.08. Duties of the Humane Officer as to Impounded Stock.
<br />It shall be the duty of the Humane Officer when any animal
<br />mentioned in this article is impounded to immediately give notice
<br />by posting an advertisement on the bulletin board of the City Hall,
<br />describing such animal and stating that if the same is not called
<br />for within ten days, and charges for taking, keeping and advertising
<br />the same are not paid, it will be sold according to law.
<br />
<br />Section 1.09. Disposition of Fees.
<br />The money received for impounding, keeping and selling all
<br />stock impounded shall be paid to the City of La Porte and receipt
<br />taken therefor, such money to be credited to the general fund of
<br />the City, and when any owner or agent shall apply for the proceeds
<br />of any animal or animals sold, upon making satisfactory proof before
<br />the City Commission within six months after the date of sale, that
<br />such animal or animals at the time the same were impounded were
<br />their property, then the City Commission shall allow to the claimant
<br />such an amount as shall appear to be due after deducting the charge
<br />of impounding, feeding, and selling said animal. All monies not so
<br />claimed shall escheat to the City.

<br />ARTICLE 2
<br />ANIMALS AND FOWLS AT LARGE
<br />
<br />Section 2.01. Animals to be Impounded.
<br />It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to allow or
<br />permit any cow, calf, steer, bull, bullock, heifer, any sheep, goat,
<br />hog, horse, mare, colt, mule, jack, or jenny owned or controlled by
<br />said person to run at large, or be herded in or upon any street, or
<br />alley or in or upon any unenclosed vacant lot or common within the
<br />corporate limits of the City, or to stake out any of the animals
<br />above mentioned upon any unenclosed lot or common or any street or
<br />alley in the City limits.

<br />Section 2.02. Fowls at Large.
<br />It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, association'of
<br />persons, firm or corporation to permit, suffer or allow any chickens,
<br />ducks, turkeys, geese or other fowl, owned, kept or possessed by
<br />them or under their control to wander in or upon or invade the
<br />premises of any other person, association of persons, firm or cor-
<br />poration within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, unless
<br />the owner or person in charge of said premises shall consent thereto.

<br />ARTICLE 3
<br />DOGS
<br />
<br />Section 3.01. Definitions.
<br />Unless otherwise expressly stated, the following terms shall,
<br />for the purpose of this article, have the meanings indicated in this
<br />section:
<br />
<br />A. Dogs: Shall mean both male and female animals of the
<br />dog kind.
<br />
<br />B. Owner: Shall mean any person, firm, association,
<br />partnership, or corporation owning, keeping or
<br />harboring an animal or animals of the dog kind.

<br />C.
<br />
<br />At Large: Shall mean a dog that is not confined to
<br />the premises of the owner by a substantial fence of
<br />sufficient strength and height to prevent the dog
<br />from escaping thereform, inside the house, or other
<br />enclosure, or secured on said premises by a leash of
<br />sufficient strength to prevent the dog from escaping
<br />from said premises, and so arranged that the dog will
<br />remain upon said premises when the leash is stretched
<br />to full length in any direction. Provided, however,
