. , ORDINANCE NO. 1~3~ AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 8 AND 22-1/2 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BY ADOPTING THE NEW AND MOST RECENT ADDITIONS OF THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE, 1985 EDITION, AND APPENDICES, THE SOUTHERN STANDARD PLUMBING CODE, 1985 EDITION, AND APPENDICES, THE SOUTHERN STANDARD GAS CODE, 1985 EDITION, AND APPENDICES, THE SOUTHERN STANDARD MECHANICAL CODE, 1985 EDITION, AND APPENDICES; BY REQUIRING A $5,000.00 BOND TO BE PRESCRIBED BY THE BUILDING INSPECTOR IN THE INSTANCE OF MOVING OF BUILDINGS, GENERAL AND BUILDING CONTRACTING WORK, PLUMBING WORK, AND MECHANICAL WORK; BY AMENDING TERMS UNDER WHICH THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE IS TO BE ADOPTED BY THE CITY BY ALTERING REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS; BY AMENDING TERMS UNDER WHICH THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE IS TO BE ADOPTED BY THE CITY BY ALTERING REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION OF HOOD SHINGLES; PROVIDING THAT GENERAL AND MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS AND PLUMBING CONTRACTORS ATTEMPTING TO PERFORM WORK IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE CARRY WORKERS' COMPENSATION INSURANCE, PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE IN CERTAIN SPECIFIED AMOUNTS, AND PROPERTY DAMAGE INSURANCE IN CERTAIN SPECIFIED AMOUNTS; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COfJ/PLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. Section 8-13 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte is hereby amended, to hereafter read as follows, to-wit: "Section 8-13. Adopted The Southern Standard Building Code, 1985 Edition, and appendices as adopted by the Southern Building Code Congress International, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Secretary of the City of La Porte, Harris County, -Texas, is hereby adopted and designated as the Building Code of the City of La Porte, incorporated by referenc e in thi s art icle, and made a part hereof, as fully as if copied at length herein.1t Section 2. Section 8-26 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte is hereby amended, to hereafter read as follows, to- wit: "Section 8-26. Adooted. The Southern Plumbing Code, 1985 Edition, and appendices, as adopted by the Southern Building Code Congress International, a copy of which is on file in the office of the City Secretary of the City of La Porte, Harris County, Texas, is hereby adopted and designated as the Plumbing Code of the City of La Porte, incorporated by reference in this article, and made a part hereof, as fully as if copied at length herein."
