<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. <br /> <br />15"3;2. <br /> <br />, Page 3 <br /> <br />Section 7. Section 8-67 of the Code of Ordinance of the City <br /> <br />of La Porte is hereby amended, to hereafter read as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />"Section 8-67. Mechanical Work Bond. The Building <br />Inspector is instructed to prescribe the amount of Five <br />Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) as the requirement for bonds <br />executed in accordance with the Southern Standard Mechanical <br />Code, Section A103.5 provisions concerning Contractor <br />license. <br /> <br />Section 8. <br /> <br />Section 8-16 of the Code of Ordinances of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte is hereby amended, to hereafter read as follows, <br /> <br />to-wit: <br /> <br />"Section 8-16. Standard Building Code Amended. The Standard <br />Building Code, heretofore adopted by the City Council of the <br />City of La Porte, be, and the same is hereby amended to read <br />as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />Section 903.2.2. Fire Detection Svstems. Every newly <br />constructed dwelling, and every newly constructed <br />dwelling unit within an apartment house, condominium, <br />townhouse, and every guest room in a hotel or motel, and <br />every basement or cellar within such dwellings, shall be <br />provided with an Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., <br />approved smoke detector, which may be ei ther 120-vol t <br />A.C., or battery operated. <br /> <br />Detector shall be mounted on the ceiling or wall at a <br />point centerlly located in the corridor or area giving <br />access to rooms used for sleeping purposes. In an <br />efficiency dwelling unit, the detector shall be centrally <br />located on the ceiling of the main room. Where sleeping <br />rooms are of an upper level, the detector shall be placed <br />in the center of the ceiling directly above the <br />s ta i rway. All detec tors shall be located wi thin twelve <br />( 12) inches of the ceil ing . Care shall be ex ere ised to <br />insure that the installation will not interfere with the <br />operating characteristics of the detector. When <br />activated, the detector shall provide an audible alarm." <br /> <br />Section g. A new section is hereby added to Chapter 8, <br /> <br />Article 2, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte, said <br /> <br />section being numbered 8-17, which is to hereafter read as follows, <br /> <br />to-wit: <br /> <br />"Section 706.6.1 Outside the Fire District, buildings <br />three stories or less in height or 9000 sq. feet (for <br />allowable area increases, see 402.3, for horizontal <br />separation modifications) in area located not less than 6 <br />feet from the property line may be roofed with U.L. <br />Listed Fire Retardant Treated wood shingles or shakes or <br />No. 1 and No. 2 U.L. Listed Fire Retardant Treated <br />Southern Yellow Pine taper saw or shakes. <br />
