Councilmember Zemanek commented he does not see the need for sponsorships when the cost for the <br />celebration is not coming out of the General Fund. <br />Councilmember K. Martin commented she would like to have family involvement in the celebration. <br />Councilmember Clausen advised La Porte Independent School District is working and planning a 100th <br />Year Celebration this coming fall and commented the City should celebrate its heritage. Mayor Rigby <br />asked if there are citizens involved in the planning of the celebration. Councilmember Clausen responded <br />yes. <br />Mayor Rigby commented Council can provide a basic list with direction for a planning committee to present <br />options to the full Council for a 125th Anniversary Celebration. <br />Council agreed on a planning committee to consist of Councilmembers or a member appointed by a <br />Councilmember; planned August 11-12, 2017 as the dates for the 125th Anniversary Celebration. <br />Councilmember Earp requested an agenda item be presented at future City Council meetings to provide a <br />progress report on activities for the 25th Anniversary Celebration. <br />3. COUNCIL COMMENTS regarding matters appearing on the agenda; recognition of community <br />members, city employees, and upcoming events; inquiry of staff regarding specific factual <br />information. <br />There were no comments. <br />4. ADJOURN - There being no further business, Councilmember Engelken made a motion to adjourn <br />the meeting at 6:52 p.m. Councilmember Leonard seconded.
