<br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 8 AND 22 1/2 OF THE CODE OF
<br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BY ADOPTING THE NEW AND
<br />MOST RECENT ADDITIONS OF THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE,
<br />1982 EDITION, AND APPENDICES, THE SOUTHERN STANDARD PLUMBING
<br />CODE, 1982 EDITION, AND APPENDICES, THE SOUTHERN STANDARD GAS
<br />CODE, 1982 EDITION, AND APPENDICES, THE SOUTHERN STANDARD HOUSING
<br />CODE, 1982 EDITION, AND APPENDICES; THE SOUTHERN STANDARD
<br />MECHANICAL CODE, 1982 EDITION, AND APPENDICES~ BY REQUIRING A
<br />$5,000.00 BOND TO BE PRESCRIBED BY THE BUILDING INSPECTOR IN
<br />THE INSTANCE OF MOVING OF BUILDINGS, GENERAl;. AND MECHANICAL
<br />CONTRACTING WORK, PLUMBING WORK, AND MECHANICAL WORK; BY AMEND-
<br />ING TERMS UNDER WHICH THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE
<br />IS TO BE ADOPTED BY THE CITY BY ALTERING REQUIREMENTS FOR
<br />INSTALLATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF FIRE DETECTION SYSTEMS; PRO-
<br />VIDING THAT GENERAL AND MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS AND PLUMBING
<br />CONTRACTORS ATTEMPTING TO PERFORM WORK IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE
<br />CARRY WORKERS' COMPENSATION INSURANCE, PUBLIC LIABILITY INSUR-
<br />ANCE IN CERTAIN'SPECIFIED AMOUNTS, AND PROPERTY DAMAGE INSURANCE
<br />IN CERTAIN SPECIFIED AMOUNTS; FURTHER AMENDING CHAPTER 22 1/2,
<br />SECTION 22 1/2-7, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF
<br />LA PORTE, BY ADOPTING THE SOUTHERN STANDARD SWIMMING POOL
<br />CODE, 1982 EDITION, AND APPENDICES; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON
<br />VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY
<br />OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN ANY
<br />SUM NOT MORE THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); CONTAINING A
<br />REPEALING CLAUSE; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING
<br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
<br />DATE HEREOF.

<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
<br />
<br />Section 1. Section 8-13 of the Code of Ordinances of the
<br />
<br />City of La Porte is hereby amended, to hereafter read as follows,
<br />
<br />to-wit:
<br />

<br />"Section 8-13. Adopted.
<br />The Southern Standard Building Code, 1982 Edition, an
<br />appendices as adopted by the Southern Building Code Con-
<br />gress International, a copy of which is on file in the
<br />office of the City Secretary of the City of La Porte,
<br />Harris County, Texas, is hereby adopted and designated as
<br />the Building Code of the Ci ty of La Porte, incorporated
<br />by reference in this article, and made a part hereof, as
<br />fully as if copied at length herein."

<br />Section 2. Section 8-26 of the Code of Ordinances of the
<br />
<br />City of La Porte is hereby amended, to hereafter read as follows,
<br />
<br />to-wit:

<br />The Southern Standard Plumbing Code, 1982 Edition, an
<br />appendices, as adopted by the Southern Building Code
<br />Congress International, a copy of which is on file in the

<br />the Plumbing Code of the City of La Porte, incorporated
<br />by reference in this article, and made a part hereof, as
