SAMPLING AND TESTING. <br /> <br />(a) Determination of the average concentration or strength <br /> <br />of the waste discharged shall be the obligation of the City <br /> <br />of La Porte, and tests made on representative average samples <br /> <br />collected by the City shall be made at such intervals, as the <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Ci ty shall designate, so long as samples are taken not less <br /> <br />than annually. <br /> <br />In the event any test made pursuant to this <br /> <br />section yields results showing that the characteristics of <br /> <br />the tested sample is not in conformity with the requirements <br /> <br />of Sections 2-9 (inclusive) of this Ordinance, the cost of <br /> <br />said test shall be borne by the discharger. <br />(b) Sampling shall be conducted according to customarily <br /> <br />accepted methods, reflecting the effect of constituents upon <br /> <br />the sewage works in determining the existence of hazards to <br />health, life, limb, and property. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(NOTE: The particular analysis involved will determine whether <br />a twenty-four (24) hour composite sample from all outfalls of <br /> <br />a premise is appropriate or whether a grab sample or samples <br /> <br />should be taken. Normally, but not always, BOD and suspended <br /> <br />sol ids analyses are obtained from 24-hour composites of all <br /> <br />outfalls. Where applicable, l6-hour, 8-hour, or some other <br /> <br />period may be required. <br /> <br />Periodic grab samples are used to <br /> <br />determine pH and oil and grease.) <br /> <br />(c) Examination and analyses of the characteristics of waters <br /> <br />and wastes required by the Ordinance shall be <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(1) Conducted in accordance with the latest edition of <br />"Stan'dard Methods": and <br />
