ORDINANCE NO. l285-A AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1285, "AN ORDINANCE IMPLE- MENTING POLICEMEN'S CIVIL SERVICE; ESTABLISHING CLASSIFICATIONS; NUMBER OF AUTHORIZED POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION; ESTAB- LISHING PAY SCHEDULES; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF." BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. Section 4 of Ordinance 1285 is hereby amended, and shall hereafter read as follows, to-wit: "Section 4. There are hereby established the following . annual pay schedules for each classification, based upon time of service within said classification, to-wit: Salary per Year Under 6 mo. or until Completion of Unde r Over Over Over police Academy 12 mo. 12 mo. 24 mo. 36 mo. Patrolman $16,284 17,424 18,372 19,318 20,290 Sergeant 20,889 21,837 22,782 22,782 Lieutenant 23,730 24,677 24 ,677 24,677" .' Section 2. It is the intention of the City Council of the City of La Porte that each employee of the City of La Porte shall have received a seven per cent (7%) pay raise, effective October 1, 1981, for the ensuing fiscal year, and, to the extent that the above-established classification and salary schedules would result in any classified employee of the City of La Porte Police Department receiving less than a seven per cent (7%) pay increase for the fiscal year beg inning October 1, 1981, the Chief of police is hereby authorized to make a one-time only adj ustment in pay to any such affected employee, to the end that the total remuneration of such employee for the fiscal . year 1981-82, on an hourly basis, will be at a level seven per cent (7%) above that which the employee received for the pre- ceding fiscal year. .:::-- . . . Ordinance No. l285-A, page 2. Section 3. Except as hereby amended, Ord inance NO. 1285 shall remain in full force and effect. Section 4. The City Council officially finds, deter- mines, reci tes and declares that a sufficient wri tten notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding . this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. Section 8. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force as of October 1, 1981.
