AN ORDINANCE MlffiNDING ORDINANCE NO. 1285-B, "AN ORDINANCE IMPLE-
MENTING POLICEMEN'S CIVIL SERVICE; ESTABLISHING CLASSIFICATIONSi
NUMBER OF AUTHORIZED POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION; ESTABLISH-
ING PAY SCHEDULES; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COM-
PLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF."
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE,
TEXAS:
Section Two: Section 2 of Ordinance l285-B is hereby amended
and shall hereafter read as follows, to wit:
"Section 2." There are hereby created the following classi-
fications of employees within the La Porte Police Department which
~ shall be subject to the provisions of said po1icemens Civil Service
Act, to wit: Police Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant.
Section Three: Section 3 of Ordinance 1285-B is hereby amended
and shall hereafter read as follows, to wit:
"Section 3." There are hereby established the following number
of authorized positions in each of the foregoing classifications,
to wit:

Section Four: Section 4 of Ordinance 1285-B is hereby amended
and shall hereafter read as follows, to wit:
"Section 4." There are hereby established the following annual
pay schedules for each classification, based upon time of service
within said classification, to wit:

Section 5. Except as hereby amended, Ordinance No. 1285-A,
as amended by Ordinance No. l285-B, shall remain in full force and
effect.
Section 6. The City Council officially finds, determines,
recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date,
hour, place and subject of the this meeting of the City Council was
posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the
City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required
by the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes
Annotated; and that this meeting has been open to the public as re-
quired by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject
matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon.
The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written
notice and the contents and posting thereof.
Section 7. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force as
of October 1, 1983.
