(e <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. /Lj31- <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 24-3, "INSURANCE", OF CHAPTER 24, <br />"TAXICABS,", OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW: PROVIDING ANY <br />PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED <br />GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR, AND SHALL, UPON CONVICTION, BE FINED <br />IN ANY SUM NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00): AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. Section 24-3, "Insurance", of Chapter 24, "Taxi- <br /> <br />cabs, II of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte is <br /> <br />amended, and shall hereafter read as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />"Sec. 24-3. Insurance. <br /> <br />(a) The holder of any permit under this chapter to conduct <br /> <br />a taxicab business in the ci ty shall, at all times during the <br /> <br />life of such permit, keep each and every vehicle operated by <br /> <br />him under his permit insured in accordance with the requirements <br /> <br />contained in subsection (b) below. <br /> <br />(b) Insurance coverage in subsection (a) above means an <br /> <br />insurance policy or policies covering all licensed taxicabs of <br /> <br />the insured issued by a company or companies qualified to do <br /> <br />business in Texas and performable in Harris County. <br /> <br />Such <br /> <br />policy or policies must contain a provision or an endorsement <br /> <br />requiring that the director be given fifteen (15) days' notice <br />before the policy can be cancelled for any cause, and naming the <br /> <br />City of La Porte as an additional named insured on said policy. <br /> <br />The minimum amounts of liability under said insurance policy <br /> <br />or policies shall be one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) <br /> <br />for anyone single personal injury of one person: five hundred <br /> <br />thousand dollars ($500,000.00) for personal injury in anyone <br />single accident: and fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) property <br /> <br />damage of anyone single accident." <br />
