HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-1984-1415 . e e I'I"I.~ ORDINANCE NO. _~-.J AN ORDINANCE DENYING THE APPLICATION OF HOUSTON LIGHTING & POWER COMPANY FOR AUTHORITY TO CHANGE RATES TO BE CHARGED IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW: AND PROVIDING AND EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. WHEREAS, on June IS, 1984, Houston Lighting & Power Company (lithe Company") filed with the City of La Porte, Texas, an application for authority to change rates to be charged within the City: and - WHEREAS, the City Council, having reviewed the Company's rate filing package and supporting testimony, is of the opinion that the rate application should be denied in all particulars: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section I. That the City Council of the City of La Porte denies the application of the Company for authority to change rates to be charged within the City of La Porte. Section 2. That this Ordinance constitutes the final action of the City of La Porte in determining the rates for sale of e electric power and energy by the Company within the City in accordance with the Public Utility Regulatory Act, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated, Article 1446c, Section 43(f). Section 3. That the City Council orders the Company to continue in effect the rates set forth in rate schedules pre- viously made effective for sale of electric power and energy within the City until such time as said rate schedules may be changed, modified, amended or withdrawn as provided by law. Section 4. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City e Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at the Ci ty Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding e e e . e . Ordinance No. /1/-/{ , Page 2. this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 3rd day of October, 1984.
