RESOLUTION NO. 24-63 JOINT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of La Porte and the La Porte Volunteer Fire Department have in the past rendered without question all possible aid and support in extinguishing fires that occur in the outlying areas around La Porte; and, WHEREAS, the City of La Porte has never been reimbursed for any of the use of the eq,uipment or the materials spent in fighting said fires; and WHEREAS, the Town of Lomax, the Town of Morgans' Point and the Town of Shoreacres feel that the time has now arrived that they should support the cause of fighting fires to the extent of banding together to purchase needed fire fighting eq,uipment as a gesture of confidence and appreciation for the efforts of the City of La Porte and the La Porte Volunteer Fire Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, THAT: Each of the governing bodies of the aforementioned towns and the governing body of the City of La Porte join together in this Resolution to purchase certain firefighting eq,uipment according to specifications and bid attached and made a part hereof. That the Town of Lomax shall fur- nish $5,604.77, that the Town of Shoreacres shall furnish $5,604.77, and that the Town of Morgans' Point shall furnish $5,604.77 and that the town of Lomax may use the firetruck as collateral for a loan not to exceed the amount of $4, 600.00 from the LA PORTE STATE BANK of La Porte, Texas, but title to said firetruck shall be held by the City of La Porte. It is especially understood that said eq,uipment including the firetruck shall be fully expended and depreciated at the end of ten (10) years. That at all times the City of La Porte shall provide the necessary upkeep and housing of said firetruck. The City of La Porte shall act as escrow agent and shall collect the funds and commit for the purchase only after all funds are collected. The above and foregoing resolution was duly and legally adopted by the City of La Porte acting by and through its authorized officers this the ~z;1;:j day of August, 1963.
