<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />ORDIANANCE NO. 97-2169 <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION SPEED ZONE ORDINANCE <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS DURING CONSTRUCTION <br />AWNG A PORTION OF sa 146 WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION <br />THEREOF. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Transportation has made it known to the <br />City of La Porte that operations will begin in the near future to upgrade SH 146; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the interest of safety, it is desirable to maintain a construction <br />speed zone during the construction period; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF L PORTE that a <br />construction speed zone be established along the named highways or parts thereof described <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Along SH 146 from 0.600 miles south of Fairmont Parkway to 0.220 miles north of <br />McCabe Road, a distance of approximately 0.720 miles, 45 MPH. <br /> <br />Necessary signs for posting the speed zones will be furnished, installed, and <br />maintained by the direction of the Texas Department of Transportation engineer in charge <br />of the project. <br /> <br />Any person violating the provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be <br />fined any sum not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00). <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be in effect only during the period of construction, and <br />completion of this project shall automatically cancel the speed zones. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED THIS <br /> <br />24th <br /> <br />day of <br /> <br />March <br /> <br />, 19 97. <br /> <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br />By ~h/t1~ <br />Nofm . .
