"AN ORDINANCE QF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THEqCITY OF
LAPORTE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THt' ISSUANCE OF $25,000
REFUNDING BONDS; PRESCRIBING TH~ FORM OF SUCH BONDS,
PROVID!NG, FOR rHj~ LEVY AND ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION
OF TAXES ON ALL THE TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE
LIMITS OF SAID CITY TO PAY THE INTEREST ON SAID BONDS
AND CREATE,A SINKING FUND WITH WHICH TO PAY THE
PRINCIoAL ~$ IT MATURES; AND DEGLARING- AN EMERGENCY."
It appearing affirmatively that at an election held on
the 30th day of April, 1929, in the City of LaPorte, Texas, a
majority of the qualified property tax paying voters of the City
of LaPorte voting at said election sustained the proposition
aU;:'horizing the City Council of the City of LaPorte to issue
$2!5,OOO City of LaPorte Refunding Bonds, as hereinafter more
fully describedj
And it further appearing affirmatively to the City Council
thut said election was regularly ordered and that notice thereof

and that said election was regularly held an~ that only property tax
paying voters voted at said election, and that returns thereof were
Vregularly made to this Council and that said returns have been
regularly canvassed and the result of such election regularly de-
clared, in all respects as provided by law, and that it has been
fou,nd and declared that the proposition authorizing the issuance of

authorized to issue such bonds and to levy a tax in payment thereof

Therefore, be it ordain~d by the City Council of the
City of LaPorte, Texas, as follows:
SECTION I
That the bonds of said City, to be called "CITY OF LAPORTE
FlElfUNDING BONDS" be issued for the ~)urpose of refund:l.ng the
following described $25,000 warrant indebtedness, coneisti~g of
valid and legally binding obligations against said City of
1.aporte in th':! amount of $25,000, evidenc!~d by r"egul arly t ssucd
warrants, mere particularly described as follows, to-wit:
$25,000 CITY OF LAPORTF. FUNDING WARRANTS dated March 10, 1929,
bearing interest at the rate of 6( per annum.
Said bond::! shall be numbered from 1 to 25 inclusive, shall
be in the denomination of $1000 each, aggregating $25,000.
They shall be dated the lOth day of December, 1929, and shall
become due and payable serially in their numerical order as

This bond is one of a seriss of twenty-five bonds,
numbered consec~tively from 1 to 25 inclusive, in the denomina-
tion of $1000 each, aggregating $25,000, issued for the purpose

Gity of LaPorte, evidenc8d by warrants of said city, by cancel-
ling the evidences thereof and issuing such r;:'lfunding bonds to
the holders thereof, as authoriZed by the Constitution and Laws
oJf the State of Texas, including Chapters 1 and 7, Ti tIe 22,
Revised Civil Statutes of 1925, and in pursuance of an ordinance
passed by the City Council of the City of LaPorte, which

It is hereby certified and recited that the issuance of
this bond and the series of which it is one is duly authorized
by law and by a vote of the qualified property tax paying
voters of the city of LaPortE' voting at an election held for

IT IS FURTH~R ORDAINED by ths City Council of the City of
LaPorte, Texas, that to pay interest on said bonds and to create:
a sinking fund suffici~nt to pay the principal as it matures,
there shall be and it is hereby ordained that there be levied,
assessed and collected in due time, form and manner and at the
sa:ne time other city taxes for said City are levied, assessed and
collected i.n each. year, a tax u.t..lon all the taxable property in
said City of LaPorte sufficient to pay the current interest on
said bonds and to pay the principal thereof as the same matures;
and to pay ,the interest on said bonds and each year's pro rata

of rIa Porte be and he is hereby authorized to take and have
chaI'ge of all necessary records pending their investigation
by the Attorney General and shall take and have charge and
control of the bonds hereby authorized pending their approval
by the Attorney General and registration by the Oomptroller of
Publio Aocounts; and is also authorized to exchange the here-
inbefore described refunding bonds for the cancellation of the
warrants being refunded thereby, which exchange may be made all
at one time or in parcels or installments.

SECTION 2
IT IS FURTH?R ORDAINED by ths City Council of the C:ty of
LaPorte, Texas, that to pay interest on said bonds and to create
a sinking fund sufficient to pay the principal as it matures,
there shall be and it is hereby ordained that there be levied,
assessed and collected in due time, form and manner and at the
same time other city taxes for said City are levied, assessed and
collected in each,year, a tax u~on all the taxable ?roperty in
said City of LaPorte sufficient to pay the current interest on
said bonds and to pay the principal thereof as the same matures;
and to pay ,the interest on said bonds and each year's pro rata
of the principal thereof, there is hereby levied a tax of
twenty-five
cents on each one hundred dollars valuation of taxable
said Ci~ f~aid Refunding Bonds, for the year 1930,
succeeding~r while said bonds or any of them are

much thereof as may be necessary for said purpose) and applied

The taxes heretofore levied for the pay-
ment of the warrants being refunded by this ordinance are hereby

the respective refunding bonds taking the place of said warrants.

It is further ordained that the Mayor of the City
of La Porte be and he is hereby authorized to take and have
oharge of all neoessary records pending their investigation
by the Attorney General and shall take and have charge and
oontro1 of the bonds hereby authorized pending their approval
by the Attorney General and registration by the Comptroller of
Pub1io Aocounts; and is also authorized to exohange the here-
inbefore described refunding bonds for the cancellation of the
warrants being refunded thereby, whioh exchange may be made all
at one time or in parcels or installments.
