BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ~\ PORTE,' TE:CAS:
Seotion 1 : That ordi.nanoe number 220t passed by the City Counoil
of the City of La Porte, Texas, May 4th, 1928 as amended by ordinanoe
number 240 passed by the City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas,
Ootober 12th, 1931, be and the sam,e is hereby amended, so as to
h:ereafter read as follows:
kll persons, firms, corporations, or reoeivers furnishing or
solling natural gas to domestio oonsumers within the oity limits
of .the City, of La Porte, Harris County, Texas, shall oharge suoh
domestio oonsumers for domestio' gas oonsumed the following rate for
gas oonsumed and the following deposit fee for meter and re-oonnection
oha:l'ge, and no more:
Seven and one-half oents (7t~) per 100 oubic feet of natural
gliS actually oonsumed; provided, however,- that a disoount of. one
oent (l~) per 100 cubic feet of natural gas so oonsumed shall be '
allowed each oustomer who pays for said gas so oonsumed Wi~h n ten.____-----l
days after the mailing by person, firm, oorporation or reo. ver' I
fu.r:nishing or selling natural gas, of a statement showing oo:;::reotly "
the ~nount of gas consumed, whioh staten~nt shall be prope ry
addressed to the aonsumer at the address within the City of La Porte
w;~ere said consumer's meter is looated. To eaoh monthly bill for
gas so sent out there shall be added the sum of Fifty cents (50~) as
a "ready to serve'" oharge. Five Dollars ($5.00) may be required as
deposit fee for meter. No fee shall be oharged.for oonnection
p:l'ovided, however, w~ere service has been disoontinued on aQaount of
non-payment of bill ~l.OO fee for re-oonneotion may be aharged.

Domestio consumers as herein referred to shall include

oooking in private homes, boarding houses and apartment houses,

llospitals, and oharitable institutions, and those oonsumers using
llatural gas for lighting, oooking and water heating only in hotels,
J~estaurants and stores, and for heating in hotels and buildings
"here separate rooms are dependent on natural gas for heating purposes

Seotion 3: The rates, deposit fees and oharges herein fixed shall
'take effeot and be in foroe on and after the date this ordinance is
passed, approved, and published aooording to law.
Seotion 4: Any person, firm, oorporation, or reoeiver.amd any agent
or employee of a,person, firm, oorporation or reoeiver violating any
provision of this ordinance shall be fined not less than Ten Dollars
($10.00) nor more than One Hundred Dollars ($lOO.OO). Any person,
firm, oorporation, or reoeiver and any agent or employee of a person,
firm, oorporation or receiver, du~y authorized to furnish or sell'
natural gas within the City Limits of the said City ot La Porte, Texas,
who fails or refuses to furnish or sell natural gas to any domestio
consumer, as herein designated, who has oomplied with the, provisions of
this ordinanoe shall be fined not less than Ten Dollars ($10.00) nor
more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). Eaoh day of suoh failure

or refusal shall oonstitute a separate offense and be punishable
therefor.
Seotion 5: All ordinanoes or parts of ordinanoes heretofore
passed'and granted whioh are in oonflict herewith are hereby amended

Seotion 6: If any seotion, or part of a seotion, or if one or
more seotions of this ordinanoe be declared to be invalid suoh shall

Section 7: The fact that it will be a publio benefit to the
'City of La Porte to have the hereinbefore desoribed rates and deposit

fees and oonneotion oharges to be oharged for natural gas oonstitutes
an emergenoy and an imperative publio neoessity that the rule requiring
ordinanoes to be read at more than one meeting be suspended, and said
rule is hereby suspended, the Mayor having in writing deolared the
existanoe of ,suoh publbo emergenoy and requested suoh passage, this
ordinanoe shall be passed finally on the date of it's introduotion,

Any person,

firm, oorporation or receiver, duly authorized to furnish or sell
natural gas witllin the City Limits of the said City of La Forte, Texas,
who fails or refuses to furnish or sell natural gas to any domestio

more than One Hundred Dollars (~lOO.OO).
