ORDINANCE NO. 257
AN ORDINANCE MAKING APPROPRIATIONS I')R SUPPORT OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY'
OF LA FORTE. TEXAS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING APRIL 1ST, 1936 AND ENDING MARCH 31ST.
1931, AND DECLARING AN DlERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORl'E, TEXAS.
Section 1. That for the purpose of providing a budget for the fisoal year
begimling April 1, 1936 and ending Maroh 31. 1931, the SUI'IlS set forth below be and ~he
same ELre hereby appropriated for the maintenanoe, operation and improvement of the gOT-
ernmeILt of the City of La Porte, and the same shall be striotly applied for the sever-
al pur'poses and in the respeotive amounts hereinafter speoified.
Seotion 2. That the amounts appropriated and the purposes for whioh the same

other item within a fund, exoepting that the Debt Servioe Funds shall not be subjeot
to suoh alteration by the City Councils and that a SUlll m~ be transferred frClJ1 one
fund to another fund only on the authority ot an ordiDanoe passed by the City Council.
Seotion 4. That the neoessity for the oontinued maintenance, operation and
improveJllent of the government of the City of La Porte oreates an emergenoy whioh re-
quires 'that the budget shall beoame effeotive at onoe, that the rule requiring orell-
nanoelS 1;0 be read at three several meetings be suspended and that this ordinanoe be
passed j~ina.lly on its first meading 8..Dd that this ordinance, therefore, shall take
effeot j~rom and after its passage. and it is so ordained.

Seotion 3. That the City Council may transter a sum from one item to an-
other item within a fund, exoepting that the Debt Service Funds shall nat be subjeot

Section 4. That the necessity for the continued maintenance, operation and
improvement of the government of the City at La Porte creates an emergency which re-
quirEls that the budget shall became effective at onoe, that the rule requiring ordi-
natLOEIS to be read at three several meetings be suspended and that this ord 1nanoe be
pausEld finally on its first zeading and that this ordinance, therefore, shall take
effect from and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
