ORDINANCE NO. 2~ AN ORDINAlTCE I/JAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR SUPPORT OF THE GOVEIDll,~NT OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING APRIL 1ST, 1937 Al,,1D ENDING MARCH 31ST, 1938, AnD DECLARING AN EMERGENCY'. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: Section 1. That for the purpose of providing a budget for tho t'iscal year beginning April 1, 1937 and ending :March 31, 1938, the sums set forth below be and the same are hereby appropriated f.or the maintenanoe, operation and improvement of "the government of' the City of La Porte, and the same shall be strictly applied f'or .the several purposes and in the respective amounts hereinafter specified. Section 2. That the amounts appropriated and the purposes for which the same shall be spent be as fol10W8~ General Control $2,838.07 1,132.00 Poli'ce Department Sewer Department 2,307.00 Water Department 7,033.00 Fire Department 2,757.89 Street and Alley Department 6,354.00 Tax Department 1,558.33 Notes and warrants 2,928.00 Debt Service: Interest &: Sinking Fund for Refunding Bonds Interest &: Sinking Fund t'or Refunding Warrants Total Appropriations 8,700.00 1,797.64 $37,405.93 Section 3. That the City Counoil may transfer a sum from one item to an- I)ther item within a fund, exoepting that the Debt Service Funds shall not be subjeot '1;0 such alteration by the City Counoil; and that a sum may be transferred from one :f.'und to another fund only on the authority of' an ordinance passed by the City Council. Seotion 4. That the necessity for the continued maintenance, operation and :I.mprovement of the govermnent of the City ot' La Porte creates an emergency whioh re- quires that the budget shall become effective at once, that the rule requiring ordi- nances to be read at three several meetings be suspended and that this ordinanoe be - . passed finally on its first reading and that this ordinance, therefore, shall take .,t'fect from and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
