Section 1. There is hereby levied and shall be assessed
and collected for the year 1942, on all the taxable property in the
City of La Forte, Texas, on the 1st day of January of the year 1942
an ad valorem tax of, and at the rate of, One and 50/100 Dollars
(01.50) on each One Hundred Dollar ($100.00) valuation of taxable
I property in said City, estimated in lawful currency of the United
Istates, for the purpose of paying the interest on, and a sinking
Ifund for tha redemption of, One Hundred Forty-Eight Thousand Dollar

(~~l48,000.OO) "City or La Porte Refunding Bonds, Series 1935n,
,Eleven Thousand Five Hundred Dollar ($11,500.00) "City of La Porte
Sewer Funding Bonds, Series 1938n, and for paying current expenses
'of said City, and levied as follows, to-wit:

in the City of La Porte, for the year 1942, for the purpose of pay-
ling the current interest on, and to provide the necessary sinking

I "City of La. Forte Refunding Bonds" issued in the year 1935, and the

I same shall be assessed and collected and applied to the purpose
I named.
I (b) There is hereby levied a tax of Ten Cents (~~.10) on

I the City of La Porte for the year 1942, for the purpose of paying
! the curre~t interest on, and to prOVide the necessary Sinking fund

assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.
(c) There is hereby levied a tax of Forty Cents (0.40)
on each One Eundred Dollar (~100.00) valuation of taxable property
! in the City of La Porte, for the year 1942, for the purpose of pay-
I ing the various current expenses of the City of La Porte, for the
year 1942, including street and bridge work and repairs, payment
of salaries of officers and all other necessary current expenses 0
said City.
Section 2. The foregoing levies and assessments are
ilbased on the valuation of all taxable property in the City of
'La Porte, Texas, on January 1, 1942, amounting to the sum of One
; llillion Five Hundred Sixty-Four Thousand Two Hundred Seventy-TwO

I Section 3. The fact that the best interest and general
! welfare of said City require this tax levy for the year 1942 in
: order that it may meet its obligations promptly constitutes and
creates an er'\ergency and an urgent public necessity requiring that
the rules providing for ordinances to be read at three several
I'meetings be ouspended and that this ordinance be passed as, and take
effect as, an emergency measure and such rules and provisions are
accordingly ouspended and this ordinance is passed and shall take
effect as an emergency measure and shall be in full force and effec
I immediately from and after its passage, and it is so ordained.
