BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI~l'Y OF LA POR HARRI S COUNTY J TEXAS: Section 1. That the Mayor and Ex-Officio Recorder of th Coryoration Court to be elected at the general election to be held in April, 1!)44, sha1.1 receive, as his compensation during his term of office, the sum of Five Dollars ($5.00) for each regular meetin of the City Council and not to exceed two (2) such meetings per month, and, in addition thereto, he shall receive the sum of One Dollar (Sl.OO) for each case tried and finally disposed of before him as Judge of the Corporation Court, except that, in cases of traffic ord1,nance or law violations, he shall receive the sum of Twenty-five cents (25~) in each such case. Section 2. That the Aldermen to be elected at the gen- eral election to be held in April, 1944 shall receive, as their I compensation during their term of office, the sum of Five Dollars (~5.00) each for each regular meeting of the City Council and not to exceed tw~ (2) such meetings per month. Section 3. That the City Secretary (Tax .Ansessor and Collector and Treasurer) to be elected at the general election to be held in April, 1944 shall receive, as his compensation during I his term of office, the sum of One Hundred Thirty-Pive Dollars ($l35.00) per month. e e Section 4. That the City Marshal to be elected at the compensation during his term of office, the sum of SIXTY Dolla rs {(; 60.00 ) per month and, in . addition thereto, he shall receive the fees prescribed for the Cit Uarshal under the Stock Law Ordinance or Ordinances of the City. He shall not receive any other fees or compensation; provided, how ever, that the Gouncil may, from time to time, allow suca officer, by proper resolution, additional compensation to defray automobile . e '. -2- and other necessary expenses. Section 5. That the City Secretary and the Ctty Marshal shall be allowed ten (10) working days vacation in such calendar year, with compensation. The periods of such vacation shall be fixed by the City Council. That the compensations provided for by this Ordinance shall not be paid either of such officers when he is absent from his duties on account of illness, or any other cause, for more tha , tuenty (20) working days during any calendar year, provided that . such officor may apply his ten (10) days vacation against any ab- sences. Jection 6. That all compensation provided in this Ordi- .' nance shall be paid to the proper persons, by warrant drawn on the general funds of the City of La Porte, on or after the first day 0 each month following that for which such compensation may be due, unless otherwise directed from time to time by the City Council. ,3ection 7. That all Ordinances and resolutions and part of Ordinances and/or resolutions heretofore passed, which are in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed by this Ordinance. Section 8. That if any section or part of a section, or one or more sections of this Ordinance be declared to be invalid such shall not affect the validity of the remaining parts hereof. Section 9. That an emergency exists constituting an im- i I perative public necessity that the rule requiring Ordinances to be read at tbree several meetings be suspended and this ~rdinance tak effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval, an it is so ordained.
