ORDINANCE :NO. 316~ All ORDINANCE PH OVIDING FOR rr,qPRISONl\!IENT IE JAIL FOR DE- FENDANTS UNABLE TO PAY FINE AND COSTS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY B.;J; IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PeR E, TEXAS: THAT: , I' I Section 1: When a Defendant is convicted of a misde- meanor in the Corporation Court of the City of La Porte, Texas, and his punishment is assessed at a pecuniary fine and he is unabl or refuses to pay the fine and costs adjudged against him he may, for such time as will satisfy the judgment, be imprisoned in jail in the City of La Porte, Texas for a sufficient length of time to discharge the full amount of fine and costs adjudged against,him; rating such imprisonment at $3.00 for each day thereof. Section 2: The fact that there is now no City ordinance providing for imprisonment and rate of credit for such imprison- ment in defaUlt of payment of fine and costs in the Corporation I Court of this City creates an imperative public necesuity that the! rule requiring Ordinances to be read at three several meetings be suspended and this ordinance take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval, and It is so ordained. :assed and approved this the 57~ day of A.
