AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE APPOINTMENT OF A RECORDER
OF THE CORP('IRATION COURT OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PRESCRIBING
HIS, POWERS AND DUTIES; FIXING THE COMPENSATION AND PROVIDING FOR
PAYMENT OUT OF GENERAL FUNDS OF THE CITY; PRESCRIBIl\~G HIS QUALI-
FICATIONS; FIXING HIS BOND; PROVIDING THAT THE CITY CLERK SHALL BE
EX OFFICIO CLERK OF SAID COUR!' AND PRESCRIBING HIS DUTIES; AND
DECLARING Al~ EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C()iMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA
PORTE,' HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of La Porte
is hereby a~thorized to appoint a Recorder of the Corporation
Court of sa1.d City; such Recorder shall have all of the authority
and powers, and be subject to all of the duties granted and con-
ferred by the general laws of the State of Texas pertaining to
Corporation Courts of cities operating under the general laws of

this State.
Section 2. The office of Recorder shall be filled by
the Commission by appointment for a two-year term. No person
shall be appointed to the office of Recorder of this City who
has not resided within the corporate limits of the City for at
least twelve (12) consecutive months preceding such appointment.
The Recorder, before entering upon the duties of his office,
shall enter into a bond in the sum of One Thousand Dollars
($1,000.00) payable to the City of La Porte, Texas, conditioned
for the faithful performance of the duties of his office and

that he will pay over all funds belonging to the City; such
bond shall be subject to the approval of the City Commission.
Section 3. As compensation for the performance of
his duties, the Recorder shell be paid the SUM of ,1~
Dollars ($ ......~..../) ~) per month, payable in semi-monthly nstall-
menta on the first and fifteenth days of each calendar month
upon warrant drawn out ,of the General Funds of the City.
Section 4. The City Clerk of the City of La Porte
shall be ex officio Clerk of said Court and he shall keep
minutes of the proceedings of said Cou~t, issue all process,
and generally perform all the duties of the Clerk of the Court
as prescribed by law for a County Clerk insofar as the same
may be applicable.

Section 5. That all Ordinances and resolutions and
parts of Ordinances and/or resolutions heretofore passed, which
are in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed by this Ordinance.
Section 6. That if any section or part of a section,
or one or more sections of this Ordinance be declared to be in-
valid, such shall not affect the validity of the remaining parts
hereof.
Section 7. That an emergency exists constituting an
imperative public necessity that the rule requiring Ordinances
to be read at three several meetings be suspended and this Or-
dinance take effect and be in force from and after its passage
and approval, and it is so ordained.
