OF EQUALIZATION FOR rfHE C I'fY OP LA PORTE, li'IXING 1'HE Tn'l E OF rnIEIR
ME&eING, PRESCRIBING A COMPENSATION AND DECLARING AN H~ERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte,

i' Texas has, by the use of its discretion, determined that it would
;; be for the-best interests of the City of La Porte to appoint a

Board of. Equalization composed of three commissioners, each a quali-
I: f1,ed voter, a resident, and a property owner of said City, Now,

BE IT ORDAIN~TI BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF

:1 LA PORTE, TEXAS THAT:
Section 1.
J. K. Holcomb, Roy Shipp and Bryan Moore,

11 each a qualified voter, a resident and a property owner of the

C:lty of La Porte, Texas, be, and they are hereby, appointed as
J commissioners on the Board of Equalization for the City of I,aPorte,

Section 2.
Said Board shall have all the powers, duties
and authority as prescribed by law of this State for Bo~rds of

,I Equalization.

Section 3.
Before said Boa.rd enters upon its duties it

ii shall be sworn to faithfully and impartially discharge all duties
I,

incumbent upon it by law as such Boardo
Section 4. Such Board of Equalization shall hold its

:I first meeting at the City Hall in said City, at 9:00 A. l.1.' Sep-

11 tember l2, iA. D. 1947 and from time to time thereafter as may be

" r..ecessary to perform its duties.

Section 5.
Each member of such Board of Equalization

I, 8hall be paid, out of the General !i'und of said City, the sum of

Fifteen Dollars ($l5.00) a day, or part thereof, devoted to the
duties of such Board of Equalization.
Section 6. If any section or part of a section, or one
.()r more sections of this ordinance be declared to be invalid such
shall not affect the validity of th~ remaining parts hereof.
