ORDINANCE NO. 360 I AN ORDIIlAJlCE APPOINTING THREE COMMISSIONERS TO THE BOARD OF : EQUALIZATION FOR THE CITY OF LA POffilE, FIXING THE TIME OF THEIR I I MERPING, PRESCRIBING A COMPENSATION AND DECLARING AN :D1ERGENCY. /- ~ WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of La Porte, Texas, has, by the use of its discretion, determined that ib would be for the best interests of the City of La Porte to appoint a Board of Equalization composed of three commissioners, each a qualified voter, a resident, and a property owner of said City, Now, Therefore, . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. Ray Shtpp and W. D. Mayes , Harry r'~al s to n , each a quall- fied voter, a resident and a property owner of the City of La Porte, Texas, be, and they are hereby appointed as commissioners on the Board of Equalization for the City of La Porte, Texas, for the year 1948. .' Section 2. Said Board shall have all the powers, duties I and authority as prescribed by law of this state for Boards of Equalization. Section 3. Before said Board enters upon its duties, it shall be sworn to faithfully and impartially discharge all duties incumbent upon it by law as such Board. Section 4. Such BOard of Equalization shall hold its first '\/\ , ! meeting at the City Hall in said City, at 9:00 A. V, the 10th day of JuJ.:y , A. D. 1948, and from time to time there~ atter as may be nec~ssary to perform its duties. Section 5. Each member ot such Board ot Equalization shall be paid, out of the General Fund of said City, the sum of P'if- teen Dollars ($ 15.00 ) a day, or part thereot, de- voted to the duties ot such Board of Equalization. Section 6. If any section or part of a section, or one l)r more sections of this Ordinance be declared to be invalid, such IJhall not affect the validity of the remaining parts hereof. e .' -2- Section 7. An emergency exists constituting an imperative public necessity that the rule requiring Ordinances to be read at three several meetings be suspended and this Ordinance take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval, and it is 80 ordained.
