ORDINANCE CANVASSING RETURNS AND
DECLARING RESULTS OF BOND ELECTION
THE STATE OF TEXAS J

COUNTY OF HARRIS I
The City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, met in
special session at the regular meeting place within said city on
the 18th nay of April, 1949, with the following members present,'
to-wit:
H. J. Pfeiffer
James S. Crate, Jr.
\..rilliam P. Jones
J. E. Muldoon
Mayor
Commissioner
Commissioner
City Clerk
when the following business was transacted:
The Mayor introduced an ordinance which was read in full.
Commissioner Crate made a motion that the ordinance be adopted as
read. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Jones and carried
by the following vote: AYES: Mayor Pfeiffer, Commissioners Crate
and Jones.
NOES: None. The ordinance thus adopted follows:
ORDINANCE CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF THE
BOND ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, ON
APRIL 16, 1949
WHEREAS, there was held in the City of La Porte~ Texas, on th
16th day of April, 1949~ an election at which was submitted to the
duly qualified resident electors of said city who own taxable prop
erty within said city and who had duly rendered the same for tax-
ation the following propositions, to-wit:
PROPOSITION NO. ONE
SHALL THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS,
BE AUTHORIZED TO ISSUE THE BONDS OF SAID CITY IN THE
AMOUNT OF $75,000, MATURING SERIALLY WITHIN TllENTY (20)
YEARS FROM THEIR DATE OR DATES, AND BEARING INTEREST AT
A RATE NOT TO. EXCEED FOUR (4%) PER CENT PER ANNUM, FOR .
THE ACQUISITION OF A CAPITAL PROJECT, TO-WIT: CONSTRUCTING
AND IMPROVING THE ROADS, BRIDGES AND STREETS OF SAID CITY
AND TO LEVY TAXES ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY
SUFFICIEDlT TO PAY THE ANNUAL INTEREST ON SAID BOJlJDS AND
TO PROVIDE A SINKING FUND TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL THEREOF AT
MATURITY.

AMOUNT OF $25,000, MATURING SERIALLY WITHIN TWENTY (20).
YEARS FROM THEIR DATE OR DATES 1 AND BEARING INTEREST AT
A RATE NOT TO EXCEED FOUR (4%) PER CENT PER ANNUM, FOR
THE AC'lUISITION OF A CAPITAL PROJECT ~ TO-WIT: CONSTRUC-
'tING A GARBAGE DISPOSAL INCINERATOR AND TO LEVY TAXES ON
ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY SUFFICIENT TO PAY
THE ANNUAL INTEREST ON SAID BONDS AND PROVIDE A SINKING
FUND TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL THEREOF AT MATURITY;

which number there were cast:

MAJORITY FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $25,000 GARBAGE'IN-
ClNERATOR BONDS 96 votes
as shown in the official election returns heretofore submitted to
this City Commission and filed with the City Clerk; Therefore
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Commission of the City of La Porte,
Texas:
Section 1: That said election was duly called and notice thereof

I, given in accordance w'ith law; that said election was held in the
manner required by law; that due returns of said election have been
made by the proper officers; that said election has resulted favor-
ably to the issuance of the bonds described in each of said prop-
ositions and that a majority of the qualified voters voting at said
election have voted in favor of the issuance of the bonds described
in each of said propositions.

Section 2:
That the City Commission is now authorized to issue
all of said bonds and to do any and all things necessary and con-
venient in connection therewith.
This o~dinance shall be effective immediately upon its adoptio .
PASSED and APPROVED this 18th day of April, 1949.
