BE IT ORDAINED BY ~HE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: SECTION ONE: That the Plumbing Ordinance of the City of Houston, Texas, as approved on the 10th day of December, 1930, be adopted by the City of La Porte, Texas, except as follows: (1). That wherever reference is made to the City of Houston in the aforesaid Ordinance, there shall be sustituted "City of La Porte, Texas". (2). That Section Two(g)~~f the Houston Ordinance be changed from "$1. 50" to "$2.50". .... ". , (3). That Section Thre~d) of the City of Houston Ordinance begin- ring \'lith "standard specificati'ons for' cement-concrete sewer pipes" and ending with subparagraph 35 of said Section Three(d), be eliminated in its entirety. ", , (4). That the penalty provided in Section Sixteen of the City of Houston Ordinance be in the amount of ~~25.00 in lieu of "not exceeding $200.00" and that the portion of said section providing forfeiture of liscense in event of violation be eliminated. (4). - That-al~-portions, paragraphs or sections of the City of Houston Ordinance pertaining to the licensing of plumbers by the City be eliminated. . . I ... ~ . e SECTION '1'1;JO: That the plumbing work now being done by some individuals within the City of La Porte, Texas, is far below the standard normally accepted in good plumbing practices and in many instances plumbing work has been done in such a manner as to create a health hazard within the City and, therefore, because of public nec~ssity, it is hereby declared final imperative that this Ordinance be declared/immediately upon the passage thereof, except as to the provisions thereof which impose a fine for the violation of any provisions of this Ordinance, vmich excepted provisions shall become effective after compliance with the provisions of the para- graph immediately following. SECTION THREE: If aqy section or any part of this Ordinance or the adopted . - City of Houston Ordinance, as amended, shall be held to be contrar,y to the provisions of Title 109A Vernon's Revised Civil Statutes, being Article 6243-101, et seq, then, and in such event the provisions of said Article o shall control and should any section or any part of this Ordinance or the adopted Hourston Ordinance as amended be held invalid for other reasons, such invalidity shall not effect the remaining portions thereof; it being the express intention of the City Commission to enact such Ordinance without respect to such section or part so held to be invalid or without respect to such section or part deemed contrary to the provisions of said Article 6243-101. t SECTION FOUR: The City Clerk is hereby authorized to have the adopted Ordinance, as amended, published in book form; such publication to follow the adopted Ordinance '8Xcept as herein amended and when such Ordinance is published, it shall be as fully binding to the the same extent and effect as if written herein in its entirety, and until such Ordinance is so pu- b1ished, the Ordinanc~ of the City of Houston, Texas, together with this Ordinance setting forth the amendments thereto shall be binding upon all plumbers who follow the occupation w,ithip. ,the City of La Porte, Texas. - SECTION FIVE: THAT, the City Clerk of the City of La Porte, in accordance with the provisions contained in Section 25 of the Charter of said City shall give notice of the passage of this Ordinance by causing the title of such .. . . . e ~ Ordinance to be published in the official newspaper in the City of La Porte at least twice within ten (10) days after the passage hereof and shall note on this Ordinance and the record thereof, the fact that same has been published as required by said Charter; and the date of such publication and promulgation of this Ordinance. SECTION SIX: That all Ordinances or portions thereof heretofore passed by the City that are in conflict herewith are hereby declared repealed upon the effective date of this Ordinance.
