BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COBHSSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:

e SECTION ONi: THAT assessements be, and the same are hereby, authorized against
all improved lots, tracts or other parcels of land situated within the corporate
limits of the City of La Porte, Texas, any property line of which is nearer
than three hundred feet (300') to any main or lateral sewerage line of said
City for the purpose of defraying the cost of material and labor in connectin~
such property to such sewerage lines.
SECTIO~ T\iO: THAT the various property o.nners affected indicate in IT.riting
their willin~ness to pay the cost to be incurred in cash upon completion of
the sewerage connection or their Tdllinrness to sign a note in favor of said

City in the principal amount of the cost incurred in making such improvemp.nts;

S1!:CTION FOUR: THAT the owners of such property be given notice of this
assessment as required by law or waive notice thereof by appropriate instru-
ment duly filed with the City Clerk of said City.
SECTION FIVE: '.i'P.AT the owners of such property be furnished with a reasonable
estimate of the cost of the improvements to be made in maldng such sevrerage
connection and th2t such owners acknowledre in Y~itine that the value of their
property ",ill be enhanced by such improvements in an amount in excess of the
cost incurred.
~ECTION fiIX: THAT the signature of the Mayor, attested by the City Clerk
when affixed to ar:y contract or other instrument of writing necessary to evi-
dence an agreement as to the work to be performe~ in accomplishing such sewerage
connection shall be fully binding upon the said City without further authoriza-
tion by Ordinanceo
SECTION S.c..'Vtl\: If any section or any part of this Oro.nance shall be held to
be contrary to the Laws of the State of Texas, then and in such event, such
laws shall control and shoulQ any section or any part of this Ordinmlce be
held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions thereof;
it being the express intention ot the City Commission to enact such Ordinance
vdthout respect to such contrary section or sections or to such section or
sections held to be invalid.
