THE STATE OF TEXAS I COUNTY OF HARRIS I CITY OF LA PORTE I ORDINANJE NO. 422 .AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE' REGULAR BIENNIAL ELECT ION OF CITY OFFICIALS PORSUANT TO ARTICLE II, SECTIONS 12 et seq, AND ARTICLE VIII, SECTIONS 83, et seq, OF THE HOME RULE CHARTER FCR THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS s PROV IDING FCR NorICE OF SAID ELECTION AND THE RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE SAl~ Nor COVERED IN SAID CHARTER. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C01ilMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, SECTION ONE, That an election be held within the oorporate limits of the City of le. Porte, Texas, on the 22nd day of April, 1952J such d&\y being the fourth Tuesday in said month, between 1;he hours of Seven (7 sOO) 0' 0 look A. M. and Sevlln (7.00) 0' clock P. M., for the purpose of eleoting offioials for said oity, as follows. A Mayor, and Two (2) :eommissioners SECTION TWO. There shall be but one polling place, whioh shall be the City ,Hall, looated within the corporate limits of the 10ity of La Porte, Texas,; SECTION THREE. Mrs. Hallie Wright is hereby appointed presiding offioer of said eleotion, Mrs. Arbela Ralston and Mrs. Lois Compton , Assistant ,Judges thereof. :~ECTION FOUlh Every person who bas attained the age of twenty-ene (21) years e land has resided within the limits of said City of La Porte, Texas, for six (6) In.o.nths next preoeding the eleotion, and is CJtherwise qualified as a voter under 'e 'I:;he laws of this State, shall be entitled to vote in the eleotion,; frn:cTION FIVE, On each of'ficial ballot the voter must write, or oause to bo 'l'Iritten, or printed thereon, the name of the individual for whom he desires to 1rote for the office of Mayor, and the names of the individuals, respeotiveq, j~or whom he desires to vote, as Commissioner; - f;ECTION SIX. SECTION SEVEN'. Notioe of sa.id eleotion shall be given by pub1ioation in the Ia Porte "Liberal" not less than thirty (30) d8iYs prior to the date thereof of the following fonn of notioe. PFEIFFER, :Mayor of the City of La. .Porte, Texas, by virtue of the power vested in me by law, do hereby order that an e1eotion be held in the City of La Porto, Texas, on April 22nd, 1952, being the fourth Tuesday thereof, for the purpose of e1eoting the following offioers of said ~City. Mayor and Two (2) 'Commissioners; that said e1eotion shall be held at the !City Hall in said City, and the following named persons are hereby appointed judges thereof, to""Vlit; Mrs. Hallie Wright, ]hos. ArbeIa Ralston, Mrs. Lois Compton, Judge and Presiding Offioer Ass istant JtXlge Assistant Judge ~ Mayor, Pro-Tam City of La Porte, Texas" and further notice of said election shall be given by postitig a oopy of this ordinance at the City Hall for thirty (30) days next preoeding said e1eotion. SlOOTION EIGHT. Said eleotion shall be held in aooordance with the provisions of siaid Charter j the prc:nri'sions of this Ordinanoe; and the provis ions of the Gene ra1 Eleotion laws (as amended) of the State of Texas; such laws of the ~tate of 'fexas b'!l1ng applioable only where neoessary rilles and regulations governing the oonduot oj~ such elections are not provided for either by said Charter, or this Ordinance izLoonsiste.nt with suoh laws of the State of Texas; SIi:CTION NINE. Upon a Candidate tendering his applioation on the fonD. presoribed. the City Clerk of the City of La Porte, Texas, shall furnish to any prospeotive CSlIldidate all infomat ion relative to the qualif'ioat ions for the office being ...., . ...- ,,r--- e. ....... .... .41 -- e ,".' ---....., e fa . sought; the method of plaoing the Candidates name on the ballot; the amount of the required filing fee; and any other pertinent information oontained in the Charter of said City. SECTION TEN. That the City rClerk is hereby authorized and direoted to give notioe of said election, in aooordance with Seotion Seven hereof, and to reoeive the affidavit of publioation of this ordinance from said. newspaper publisher. SECTION ELEVEN. If any Seotion, or a:n.y I*rt of this Ordinanc e shall be held to be invalid; such invalidity shall not affeot the remaining portions thereof, and any irregular prooeedings :in the oonduot of said eleotion, beginning with the :passage of this Ord:inanoe and ending with the f:inal oanvass of votes and oerti- .fioation of officers, shall not void said. eleotion, unless the fair results "~hereof might be ohanged by suoh ilTsgularity, and to such an extent that the 4Jffioers elooted thereby would not have been eleoted; it being the express inten- 1:;ion of the City Commission to enaot this Ordinanoe without respeot to suoh Uection, or seotions, held to be invalid. and to effeotuate suoh eleotion without respeot to any irregularities in the oonduct of said election proceedings. SIECTION TWELVE. The filing fee for eaoh Candidate sha 11 be as follows. For Mayor $ 100.00 $ 50.00 For Commissioner PASSED this 14th day of Maroh, A.
