AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING li'OR CANCELLATION OF PENALTY AND INTERES T
FOR THE TAX YEAR 1951 IN CONNECTION WITH COMPROMISE OF LAWSUIT IN-
VOLVING ORDINANCES NOS. 387 AND 392 OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
LA PORTE:
That in connection with the' compromise of a pending law-
suit by The state of Texas ex reI Mrs. Sue Campbell Pillot et al
v. The City of La Porte, et alt No. 391.1299 in the District Court
of Harris CountYJ Texas, 80th Judicial District, whereby the
relators agreed \1) to have said suit dismissed and. (2) pay to
the City of La Porte an amount equal to the ~95l taxes assessed
by the City of La Porte on their respective properties located in
the area described by La Porte's ordinanc~s numbered 387 and 392
upon the City of La Porte (1) discontinuing as a part of the City
of La Porte the territory annexed to the said city by its ordinances
numbered 387 and 392, LESS, however, the following described tract:
BEGINNING at the intersection of the south right of way line of
the Spencer HighwaYL Harris County, TexasL_with the west right of
\fay line of the G. H.' & S. A. Railroad; T~NCE in a westerly direc-
tion along the south right of way line of the -Spencer Highway to
j.ts intersection with the eas.t line' of the W. M. Jones Survey;
~~NCE north 89 degrees 33' west, 4,136.6 feet along the south right
elf way line of said Spencer Highway to a point; HENCE due north
3,157.8 feet to a point on the north line of sai W. M. Jones Sur-
vey same being the west line of the La Porte M cipal Airport;
I'HEhCE south 89 degrees 35' east, 4,136.6 feet alo the north line
of said survey to the northeast corner of said survey; THENCE due
south 3,160.2 feet along the east line of the said W. M. Jones Sur-
vey to its intersection with the north line of the right of way of
the Spencer Highway; THENCE in an easterly direction along the
north line of the right of way of the Spenc~r Highway to its inter-
slsction with the west right of way line of the G. H. & S. A. Rail-
road; THENCE in a southerly direction with the west right of way
l:Lne of the G. H. & S., A. Railroad to the place of beginning and
(:2) officially cancelling the penalty and interest on the 19~1 taxes
assessed on property located in the said area annexed to the City
of La Porte by ordinances numbered 387 and 392, and the said City of
Lei Porte having by Ordinance No. .!t~discontinued as a part of the
,Cl ty the terri tory in accordance wftli said agreement, the said
pE!Dalty and interest upon the 1951 taxes on any property comprising
a part of the territory annexed to the City of La Porte by its said
ordinances 387, and 392 be and the same are here'Oy cancelled if the
sa.id taxes for the said year on the respective, tracts be paid on
