AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 476 OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE,
EXCLUDING A CERTAIN AREA WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE HERETOFORE
INCLUDED FROM THE REGULATIONS OF ORDINANCE NO. 476, ESTABLISHING
THE REMAINING AREA AS A CLASS II FIRE ZONE, AND PROVIDING FOR
CERTAIN REGULATIONS OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF METAL CLAD BUILDINGS.
WHEREAS, on the 20th day of August, 1954, the City Commission
of the City of La Porte passed Ordinance No. 476, providing certain
rules and regulations for the construction of buildings within the
fire zone therein described and designated; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte has
decided that it would be to the best interest of the City of
La Porte to exclude an area from the effect of this ordinancer
NOvl, THEREFORE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. Ordinance No. ~76 and any of its terms and pro-
visions shall no longer, apply to the area adopted as the Class I
fire zone in Ordinance No. 622 of the Ordinances of the City of
La Porte.
Section 2. The balance of the area circumscribed and described
in Ordinance No. 476, shall henceforth be known as the Class II fire
zone of the City of La Porte.
Section 3. Henceforth, and notwithstanding the wording in
the Original Ordinance No. 476, metal buildings not exceeding
square feet of floor area shall be allowed so long as 10
feet minimum distance can be maintained at all times from any
portion of said metal building to the nearest building plot
line excepting those instances where the building is adjacent
to an alley in which case two feet minimum distance from said
alley line must be maintained. Providing further that such
metal buildings shall have fronts of all masonry and glass.
Section 4. It is further hereby provided that where the
separation required in Section 3 above can not be maintained, then

and in that event combination buildings of metal and masonry may
be permitted so long as that portion of the building that is not
provided with the minimum ~paration shall be of masonry con-
struction as heretofore provided in Ordinance No. 476.

This ordinance shall be effective as of the date of its
passage.
