ORDINANCE NO. 479 ~RDINANC~ CALLING ~ND ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS I I COUNTY OF HARRIS j The City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, met in ~~~ session at the regular meeting place within said City on the --1'1~ day of December, 1954, with the follow- ing members present, to-wit: M. D. Burgin L. R. Rigby H. P. Pfeiffer J. E. Muldoon Mayor Commissioner Commissioner City Clerk when ~he following business was transacted: ~ The Mayor introduced an ordinance calling a bond election. The ordinance was read in full and Commissioner 1< I.j...;:-__ moved that it be adopted. The motion was seconded by Commissioner PI lr-i1tE/L. and carried by the following vote: AYES: Mayor Burgin, Commissioners Rigby and Pfeiffer. NOES: None. The ordinance thus adopted follows: BE IT ORDAINED ~y the City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas: Section 1: That an election shall be held in and throughout the City of La Porte, Texas, on the K day of ;r~ V- , 195~at which election the following proposition shall be sub- mitted to the duly qualified resident electors of said City who own taxable property within said City and who have duly rendered the same for taxation, for their action thereupon: PROPOSITION SHALL THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS BE AUTHORIZED TO ISS UE THE BONDS OF, SAID CITY IN THE AMOUNT OF $ 60,000 , MA'li'UlUNG SERIALLY WITHIN THIRTY (30) YEARS FroM THEIR DATE OR DATES, AND BEARING INTEREST AT A RATE NOT TO EXCEED FOUR (4%) PER CENT PER ANNUM, FOR THE ACQUISITION OF A CAPITAL PROJECT, TO-WIT: IMPROVING AND EXTENDING THE CITY'S SANITARY SEWER SySTEM, AND TO LEVY TAXES ON ALL TAXABLE, PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE ANNUAL INTEREST ON SAID ,BONDS AND TO PROVIDE A SINKING FUND TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL THEREOF AT MATURITY? .' . ~-- ,..--, , ~e ..--.~..... e , -"" e ,.-- -.. . ~, . '.. ". . - Section 2: That the City Commission finds that the probable period of usefulness of the sanitary sewer improvements and ex- tensions'is approximately thirty (30) years. Section 3: That said election shall be held in the City Hall Building, in the City of La Porte, Texas, and the entire City shall constitute one election precinct. '~~ _yx,~. ,h~ ,~~.~ , Presiding Judge , Assistant Judge , Cle rk , Clerk Section 4: That said election shall be held in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the laws of the State of Texas and the City Charter and only duly qualified resident elec- tors of the City of La Porte, Texas, who own taxable property within said City and who have duly rendered the same for taxa- tion, shall be qualified to vote. Section 5: That-the ballots of said election shall conform to the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Election Code of the State of Texas, Chapter 492, Acts of the 52nd Legislature of Texas, 1951, so far as applicable, and, in addition to the requirements of Chapter 6 shall have printed thereon the following: OFFICIAL BALLOT PROPOSITION . ,.FOR THE ISSUANCE OF $ 60,000 SEwER S,YSTEM-: IMPRovEMENT BONDS SANITARY ," AGAINST THE ISSUANCE OF $60.000 TARY SEWER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT BONDS SANI- In accordance with the provisions of Article 61 of the Election Code (codified by Vernon as Article 6.05 of said Code), a square shall be printed on the ballot beside each of the above expressio s. ..,.---- '. e ,,-~, . ,-,-" -- ....--. Each voter may vote by placing an X or a plus sign, or any mark that clearly shows his intention, in the square beside the ex- pression of his choice; or he may vote by marking out one of the above expressions on such proposition, thus leaving the other as indicating his vote on such proposition. Section 6: That notice of said election shall be given by posting a substantial copy of this ordinance at the City Hall and one othe public place within said City not less than fourteen (14) days prior to the date on which said election is to be held, and by publication of said notice on the same day in each of two succes- sive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation published within said City, the first of said publications to be made not later than fourteen (14) days prior to the date set for said election. RESOLUTION CAW ASSING REl'URNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF BOND, ELECTION THE STATE OF TEXAS I COUNTY OF HARRIS I The City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, met in speoial session at the regular meeting place within said City on the 13th day of January with the following members present: M. D. Burgin Mayor L. R. Rigby Commissioner H. P. Pfeiffer Commissioner J. E. Muldoon City Clerk when the following business was transacted: The Mayor introduced a resolution and moved its , 1955, adoption. The resolution was read in full and Commissioner H. P. Pfeiffer moved that it be adopted as read. The motion was seconded by Commissioner La R_ Righy and carried by the following vote: AYES: Mayor Burgin, Commissioners Rigby and Pfeiffer. NOES: None. The resolution thus adopted fo llows : RESOLUTION CANVASSING RErURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF BOND ELECTION WHEREAS, there was held in the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 8th day of January, 1955, an election at which was submitted to the duly qualified resident electors of said City who own taxable property within said City and who had duly rendered the same for taxation, for their action there- upon, the following ,'~ e '" ~--- e' .,..--, '\'li, e " It ,: .' .; i'~. . .
