AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY, ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION OF AN AD VALOREM
TAX FOR THE YEAR 1959, OF AND AT THE RATE OF ONE AND 75/100 DOLLARS ($1.75) ON
EACH ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) VALUATION OF TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF
LA FORTE, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING THE INTEREST ON, ANA A SINKING FUND FOR,
THE REDEMPTION OF "CITY OF LA PORTS REFUNDING BONDS, SERIES 1934", "CITY OF LA
FORTE WATER SYSTEM REFUNDING BONDS, SERIES 1946", "CITY OF LA FORTE STREET IM-
PROVEMENT BONDS, SERIES 1949", "CITY OF LA FORTE GARBAGE INCINERATOR BONDS~~
SERIES 1949", "CITY OF LA FORTE STREET IMPROVEMENT BONDS, SERIES 1953-A CITY
OF LA FORTE CITY HALL BONDS, SERIES 1953", "CITY OF LA FORTE STREET REFUNDING
BONDS, SERIES 1954", AND "CITY OF LA FORTE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM BONDS, SERIES
1955", AND FOR PAYING CURRENT EXPENSES OF SAID CITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA FORTE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. There is hereby levied and shall be assessed and collec-

ted for the year 1959, on all the taxable property in the City of La Porte,
Texas, on the 1st day of Tanuary of the year 1959, an ad valorem tax of, and
at the rate of, One and 75/100 Dollars ($1.75) on each One Hundred Dollars
($100.00) valuation of taxable property in said City, estimated in lawful
currency of the United States, for the purpose of paying the interest on, and
a sinking fund for the redemption of, One Hundred Forty-Eight Thousand Dollars
($148,000.00) "City of La Porte Refunding Bonds, Series 1934", Twenty-Two
;Thousand Dollars ($22,000.00) "City of La Porte Water System Refunding Bonds,
(Series 1946", Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars ($75,000.00) "City of La Porte
Street Improvement Bonds, Series 1949", Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($25,000.00)
"City of La Porte Garbage Incinerator Bonds, Series 1949", Two Hundred Thousand
Dollars ($200,000.00) "City of La Porte Street Improvement Bonds, Series 1953-A",
Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000.00) "City of La Porte City Hall Bonds, Series
1953", Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) "City of La Porte Street Refunding
Bonds, Series 1954" and Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00) "City of La Porte
Sanitary Sewer System Bonds, Series 1955", and for paying current expenses of
said City, and levied as follows, to-wit:
(a) There is hereby levied a tax of Six Cents (b~) on each One Hun-

the year 19591 for the purpose of paying the current interest on, and to provide
'the necessary sinking fund for, the One Hundred Forty-Eight Thousand Dollars

'($148,000.00) "City of La Porte Refunding Bonds" issued in the year 1934, and
the same shall be assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.
(b) There is hereby levied a tax of One Cent (1¢) on each One Hundred
llars ($100.00) valuation of taxable property in the City of La Porte for the

year 1959, for the purpose of paying the current interest on, and to provide
the necessary sinking fund for, the Twenty-Two Thousand Dollars ($22,000.00)
"City of La Porte Water System Refunding Bonds, Series 1946", and the same shall
'be assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.
(c) There is hereby levied a tax of Two Cuts (2~) on each One Hun-

for the year 1959, for the purpose of paying the current interest on, and to
provide the necessary sinking fund for, the Seventy-Five Thousand Dollars
($75,000.00) "City of La Porte Street Improvement Bonds, Series 1949", and the
same shall be assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.
(d) There is hereby levied a tax of One Cent (l~) on each One Hun-

same shall be assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.
(e) There is hereby levied a tax of Three Cents (3~) on each One

for the year 1959, for the purpose of paying the current interest on, and to
provide the necessary sinking fund for, the Two Hundred Thousand Dollars
($200,000.00) "City of La Porte Street Improvement Bonds, Series 1953 A''', and
the same shall be assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.
(f) There is hereby levied a tax of One Gent (1~) on each One Hun-
dyed Dollars ($100.00) valuation of taxable property in the City of La Porte
for the year 1959, for the purpose of paying the current interest on, and to
provide the necessary sinking fund for, the Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000.00)
"City of La Porte City Hall Bonds, Series 1953"', and the same shall be assessed
and collected and applied to the purpose named.
(g) There is hereby levied a tax of One Cent (l~) on each One Hun-

Bred Dollars ($100.00) valuation of taxable property in the City of La Porte
for the year 1959, for the purpose of paying the current interest on, and to
provide the necessary sinking fund for, the Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00)
"City of La Porte Street Refunding Bonds, Series 1954", and the same shall be
assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.

(h) There is hereby levied a tax of Two Cents (2~) on each One Hun-
dred Dollars ($100.00) valuation of taxable property in the City of La Porte
for the year 1959, for the purpose of paying the current interest on, and to
provide the necessary sinking fund for, the Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000.00)
"City of La Porte Sanitary Sewer System Bonds, Series 1955", and .the same shall
be assessed and collected and applied to the purpose named.
(i) There is hereby levied a tax of One and 58/100 Dollars ($1.58)
on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) valuation of taxable property in the City
'~,i of La Porte for the year 1959, for the purpose of paying the various expenses
~~, of the City of La Porte for the year 1959, including street and bridge work

', and repairs, payment of salaries of officers and all other necessary expenses

of said City.
Section 2. The foregoing levies and assessments are based on the
valuation of all taxable property in the City of La Porte on January 1, 1959,
amounting to the sum of Six Million Eighty Thousand Four Hundred Seventy Dollars..
($6,080,470.00).
Section 3. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its
passage.
