ORDINANCE NO.~
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING THE HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY
TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AND EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS
OF THE SAID CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, SO AS TO INCLUDE SAID
HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY, GRANTING TO ALL INHABITANTS
AND OWNERS OF SAID PROPERTY ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF
OTHER CITIZENS, BINDING SAID INHABITANTS BY ALL THE ACTS,
ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS AND REGULATIONS OF THE SAID CITY OF
LA PORTE, TEXAS, RESERVING AND PRESERVING ALL RIGHTS, POWERS
AND DUTIES AS TO TERRITORY INCLUDED IN ORDINANCE NO. 587 NOT
. INCLUDED WITHIN THIS ORDINANCE AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE.
WHEREAS, The City of La Porte has heretofore adopted a
Home Rule Charter authorizing it to annex territory and to
extend the corporate limits of said city by action of the
City Commission; and,
WHEREAS, the hereinafter described land is adjacent to the
present city limits of the City of La Porte and the members
of the City Commission of the City of La Porte have concluded that
said area should be annexed and made a part of the City of La Porte,
Texas;

NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CO~4ISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS:

SECTION 1. That the following described territory be and the same is
hereby annexed to the City of La Porte, Texas, and the boundary limits
of the City of La Porte be, and the same are hereby extended to
include the following described territory within the city limits of
the City of La Porte, and the same shall hereafter be included
within the territorial limits of said city, and the inhabitants
thereof shall hereafter be entitled to all rights and privileges of
other citizens of the ?City of La Porte, and they shall be bound by
the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of said city.
That the territory to be so annexed is more particularly described
as follows, to-wit:

Beginning at the intersection of the South Right-of-way line of
Fairmont Parkway, based on a wi~th of 200 feet, the said Fairmont
Parkway being a continuation to the west of West ffJ" Street, with
the West Boundary Line of the City Limits of The City of La Porte,
said Place of Begin~:being in the center of the Southern Pacific
Railroad Right-of-way and 4900 feet more or less South of the
intersection of the South Right-of-way line of Spencer Highway
(West Main Street) with the Southern Pacific Railroad Right-of-way;
THENCE, West along the South Right-of-way line of Fairmont
Parkway (previously known as Cardiff Road) based on a width of
200 feet, a distance of 24,676 feet more or less to the point of
intersection of the South Right-of-way line of Fairmont Parkway
with the West Survey line of the W. M. Jones survey, abstract no. 482,
said point also being in the west boundary line of La Porte
Independent School District;
THENCE, South along the West Survey line of the W. M. Jones
Survey, abstract no. 482, a distance of 1910 feet more or less to
a point in the Northeast Right-of-way line of Red Bluff Road, said
point being 205 feet more or less North of the Southwest Corner
of the W. M. Jones Survey, Abstract No. 482;
THENCE, in a Southeasterly direction along Northeast Right-
of-way line of the said Red Bluff Road and following its various
curves and meanderings for a total distance of 37,840 feet more
or less to its intersection with State Highway No. 146;
THENCE, crossing said State Highway No. 146 by a line
perpendicular to its centerline to the East Right-of-way line of
the said State HighWW No. 146;
THENCE, in a southerly direction along the East Right-of-way
line of State Highway No. 146 to its intersection with the North
IltglUHilGf-way line of Red Bluff Road, a distance of 720 feet more
or less;
THENCE, 1M an easterly direction along the North Right-of-way
line of Red Bluff Road and following its curves and meanderings to
its intersection with the West Right-of-way line of Todville Road;
THENCE, in a northerly direction along the West Right-of-way.
line of Todville Road to its intersection with the North Survey
line of the Ritson Morris Survey, abstract no. 52, the same being
the South Survey Line of the Wm. P. Harris Survey, abstract no. 30;
THENCE, in an easterly direction following said survey lines
to the waters of Galveston Bay;
THENCE, in a northerly direction, following tnw meanderings
of the shore of Galveston Bay to the South Boundary line of
Shoreacrea Subdivision, according to the map thereof recorded in
Volume 7, Pages 10 and 11 of the Map Records of Harris County, Texas;
THENCE, in a westerly direction, along the south boundary line
of the said Shoreacres Subdivision to the centerline of the Southern
Pacific Railroad Right-of-way;
THENCE, in a northerly direction, along the centerline of
the Southern Pacific Railroad Right-of-way to the Flace of

SECTION 2. Tbe City Commission of Tbe City of La Porte bereby
reserves and preserves the rights, powers duties and effect of
Ordinance No. 587 and in no way releases nor niinquishes any
part or portion of the territory therein annexed.
SECTION 3. Sbould any portion of the territory sought to be
annexed herein not be subject to annexation by the City of
La Porte, then it is tbe intention of the City Commission of the
City of La Porte to annex only such portion of said area as may
be legally subject to annexation by the City of La Porte, and the
fact that a portion of said area may not legally be subject to
annexation by said city s&all not affect the validity of the
annexation of the remaining portions of said territory, it being
the intention of the City Com~ission to annex all or such portions of
the above described area as it may legally annex.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after
its passage and publication as the Charter in such cases provides.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COlvlI,IISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE
on first reading on this the 31st day of December, 1960.
