AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING THE HEREINAFTER
DESCRIBED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE,
TEXAS, AND EXTENDING THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF
THE SAID CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, SO AS TO IN-
CLUDE SAID HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY,
GRANTING TO ALL INHABITANTS AND OWNERS OF
SAID PROPERTY ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES
OF OTHER CITIZENS, BINDING SAID INHABITANTS BY
ALL THE ACTS, ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS AND
REGULATIONS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS,
RESER VING AND PRESERVING ALL RIGHTS, POWERS
AND DUTIES AS TO TERRITORY INCLUDED IN PRIOR
ORDINANCES.

WHEREAS, The City of La Porte has heretofore adopted a Home
.
Rule Charter authorizing it to annex territory and to extend the corporate
limits of said City by action of the City Commission; and,
WHEREAS, the hereinafter described land is adjacent to the pres-
ent city limits of the City of La Porte and the members of the City Commis-
sion of the City of La Porte have concluded that said area should be annexed
and made a part of the City of La Porte, Texas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COlVIMISSION
OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. That the following described territory be and the same
. is hereby annexed to the City of La Porte, Texas, and the boundary limits
of the City of La Porte be, and the same are hereby extended to include the
following described territory within the city limits of the City of La Porte,
and the same shall hereafter be included within the territorial limits of said
City, and the inhabitants thereof shall hereafter be entitled to all rights and
privileges of other citizens of the City of La Porte, and they shall be bound
by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of said City. That the
territory to be so annexed is more particularly described as follows, to-wit:

BEGINNING on the present City Limit line of the City of
La Porte, at the intersection of the center line of West
Madison Street (formerly known as North D Street) and
the West right-of-way line of North Second Street;
THENCE in a Northerly direction along the West right-
of-way line of North Second Street to the point where
the West right-of-way line of said North Second Street,
extended in the same direction, intersects with North
right-of-way line of the T. & N. O. Railroad (also known
as the G. H. & S. A. Railroad);
THENCE in a Northwesterly direction along the North
right-of-way line of the said T. & N. O. Railroad to the
point where the same intersects with the East boundary
line of the Town of Lomax, Texas;
THENCE in a Northerly direction along the East boundary
line of the Town of Lomax, Texas, to the Northeast cor-
ner of the said Town of Lomax;

THENCE in a Westerly direction along the Northernmost
boundary line of the said Town of Lomax extended, to the
point where the same intersects with the Northerly right-
of-way line of Texas State Highway 225 (also known as
Houston - La Porte Road);

THENCE in a Northwesterly direction along the Northerly
right-of-way line of the said Texas State Highway No. 225,
to the point where the same intersects with the Easterly
right-of-way line of Texas State Highway No. 134 (also
known as Battleground Road);
THENCE in a Northerly direction along the Easterly right-
of-way line of the said State Highway No. 134, to the point
where the same intersects with an imaginary line twenty-
five hundred (2500) feet distant from, parallel to, and
South of the center line of the Houston Ship Channel, said
imaginary line also being the City Limit line of the City of
Houston;

THENCE in a Northeasterly direction along the said imagi-
nary line twenty-five hundred (2500) feet distant from,
parallel to, and South of the said Houston Spip Channel, to
the point where the same intersects with the Southerly
boundary line of the San Jacinto Battleground State Park of
Texas;
THENCE in a Southeasterly direction along the said Souther-
ly boundary line of the said State Park to the Southernmost
point of said boundary line;
THENCE in a Northeasterly direction along the Easterly
boundary line of said State Park, extended in the same
direction, to the point where the same intersects with an
imaginary line twenty-five hundred (2500) feet distant from,
parallel to, and Southwest of the center line of the Houston
Ship Channel;

THENCE in a Southeasterly direction along an imaginary
line 2500 feet distant from, parallel to, and Southwest of
the said center line of the Houston Ship Channel, to. the
point where the said imaginary line intersects with the
North boundary line of the City of La Porte, the same also
being the North boundary line of the La Porte Independent
School District;
THENCE in a Westerly direction along the said North
boundary line of the said City of La Porte a distance of
100 feet to B: point;
THENCE hi a Northwesterly direction along an imaginary
line 2600 feet distant from, parallel to, and Southwest of
the center line of the Houston Ship Channel to the point
where the said imaginary line intersects with the North-
South base line as established and monumented on the
ground for the Houston Lighting & Power Company power
plant, said point having Lambert Grid Coordinates of
X .. 3, 252,097.00 and Y - 709,626.00.
THENCE S 100 -00' W along said North -South base line a
distance of 340 feet to a point;

THENCE N 800-00' W 1200 feet to a point in the center
of a concrete roadway lying east of Unit No. 1 of the
Houston Lighting & Power Company power plant.

crete roadway 250 feet to a point;
THENCE N 800-00' W 200 feet to a point on the center
line between Units 1 and 2 of the Houston Lighting &
Power Company power plant;
THENCE N 100 -00' E along said center line between
Units 1 and 2 a distance of 300 feet to a point in the
North edge of a plant roadway;
THENCE S 800-00' E along the North edge of said plant
roadway a distance of 1350 feet to a point 50 feet West
of the North -South base line;
THENCE N 100 -00' E parallel to and 50 feet distant East
of said North-South base line a distance of 300 feet to a
point of intersection with an imaginary line twenty-six
hundred (2600) feet distant from, parallel to, and South-
west of the said center line of the Houston Ship Channel;

THENCE in a Northwesterly direction along an imaginary
line 2600 feet distant from, parallel to, and Southwest of
the said center line of the Houston Ship Channel to the
point where the said imaginary line intersects the North-
west bank of Peggy Lake;
THENCE Southerly and Easterly with the meanders of the
Northwest bank of Peggy Lal<e to a point being the North-
west corner of Houston Lighting & Power Company Right-
of- Way on Peggy Lake;
THENCE with said right-of-way S 490-10' W 55.67 feet
to a point for a corner of said Houston Lighting & Power
Company Right-of- Way;

THENCE with said right-of-way N 530-10' W 1128.50 feet
to a point in an imaginary line 100 feet distant, from and
parallel to, East boundary line of San Jacinto Battleground
State Park;

THENCE in a Southwesterly direction along an imaginary
line 100 feet from, parallel to, and East of the East
boundary line of the said State Park extended, and along
an imaginary line 100 feet distant from, parallel to, and
East of the said East boundary line of the said State Park,
to the point where the said imaginary line intersects with
an imaginary line 100 feet from, parallel to, and South of
the South boundary line of the said State Park exten~ed;
THENCE in a Northwesterly direction along an imaginary
line 100 feet from, parallel to, and South of the South
boundary line of the said State Park extended, and along
an imaginary line 100 feet distant from, parallel to, and
South of the said South boundary line of the said State Park,
to the point where the same intersects with an imaginary
line 2600 feet from, parallel to, and South of the center
line of the Houston Ship Channel;

said Houston Ship Channel, to the point where said imagi-
nary line intersects with an imaginary line 100 feet from,

THENCE in a Southerly direction along an imaginary line
100 feet from, parallel to, and East of the said East right-

line being also on coordinate South 198.0 of the Celanese
Polymer Company's coordinate system;

SECTION 2. The City Commission of The City of La Porte hereby
reserves and preserves the rights, powers, duties and effect of prior ordi-
nances and in no way releases nor relinquishes any part or portion of the
territory therein annexed.
SECTION 3. Should any portion of the territory sought to be annexed
herein not be subject to annexation by the City of La Porte, then it is the
intention of the City Commission of the City of La Porte to annex only such
portion of said area as may be legally subject to annexation by the City of
La Porte, and the fact that a portion of said area may not legally be subject
to annexation by said City shall not affect the validity of the annexation of

the remaining portions of said territory, it being the intention of the City
Commission to annex all or such portions of the above described area as it
may legally annex.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect from and after
its passage and publication as the Charter in such cases provided.

CITY OF LA PORTE on first reading on this the 27th day of November,
1961.
