AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS UPON CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON EAST MAIN STREET, NORTH BROADWAY, SAN JACINTO STREET, PARK BOULE- VARD, CREST LANE, 16TH STREET, 8TH STREET, AND J STREET AS SET OUT IN THIS ORDINANCE, PROVIDING A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EX- CEED $200.00 AGAINST OPERATORS OF MOTOR VEHICLES EXCEEDING SUCH ESTABLISHED LIMITS OF SPEED AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COM:M:ISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. The following prima facie speed limits hereafter indicated for vehicles are hereby determined and declared to be reasonable and safe; and such speed limits are hereby fixed at the rate of speed indicated, for vehicles traveling upon the named streets, as follows: (a) On East Main Street from Broadway to the City Limits East towards Morgans Point, the maximum speed of 30 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any portion thereof is hereby established. (b) On North Broadway from its intersection with Main Street North to the City Limits a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any portion thereof is hereby established. (c) On San Jacinto Street from Main Street South to the end of sa id San Jacinto Street a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any .portion thereof is hereby established. (d) On Park A venue from San Jacinto Street to the City Limits a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any portion thereof is hereby established. (e) On Crest Lane from 16th Street to Broadway, a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any portion thereof is hereby established. (f) On 16th Street, a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any portion thereof is hereby established. (g) On 8th Street from Main Street to C Street, a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any portion thereof is hereby established. (h) On 8th Street from C Street to J Street, a maximum speed of 40 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any portion thereof is hereby establ ished. (0 On J Street from 8th Street to Broadway, a maximum speed of 30 miles per hour for any vehicle traveling over any par- tion thereof is hereby established. (j) On San Jacinto Street from C Street South to the end of San Jacinto Street, a maximum speed of 20 miles per hour School Zone when so signed.
