AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ANY PERSON, ASSOCIATION OR CORPORA- TION MAKING OR CAUSING TO BE MADE ANY IMPROVEMENT OR BUILD- ING OR ANY ALTERATION OR REPAIR OF ANY IMPROVEMENT OR BUILDING WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TO FIRST ACQUIRE A BUILDING PERlv.1lT FROM THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY OF NOT MORE THAN $200.00 FOR EACH DA Y ANY PERSON IS IN VIOLATION OF THE TERMS AND PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE. . ----.." BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: 1. Any person, association or corporatio~ desiring to make any improvement or building or any alteration or repair of any improvement or building within the city limits of the City of La Porte shall make applica- ./ -- '~-'" tion to the City Clerk C?f the City of La Porte for a building permit, such .- application for building permit shall be accompanied by a plot plan and plans and specifications and the City Clerk is hereby directed to refuse to accept any application that does not have such plot plan and plans and specifications accompanying such application. 2. No work shall be done, nor any material furnished to the site of such improvement or building or alteration or repair of any improve- ment or building, within the city limits of the City of La Porte unless and until a building permit is issued by the City of La Porte for such improve- -----, '. ment or building or repair or alteration of any improvement or building . and is prominently displayed at the front of the plot on which such construc- tion is to be made. 3. Any person furnishing labor or material to a site where any improvement or building or any alteration or repair of any improve- ment or building is to be made prior to the time that such building permit is prominently displayed shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined in an amount not to exceed the sum of $200.00. 4. Any person who shall make, or cause to be made, any improvement or building or any alteration or repair of any improvement . or building without first having obtained a building permit shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined in an amount not to exceed the " . / ~-- "..... .' --......- /' -"" . .....-- . (plf0 sum of $200.00 and each day that such improvement or building or altera- tion or repair of any improvement or building shall continue to exist with- out a building permit from the City of La Porte shall constitute a violation separate and apart from the preceding day and each such day shall consti- tute a separate offense. 5. This ordinance shall become effective on and after the eleventh (11th) day after the first publication of the caption of this ordinance in the official newspaper of the City of La Porte.
