MAIN WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT PHASE 1 EXPANSION BUSCH, HUTCHINSON & ASSOCIATES INC MAIN WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT 16. CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL TRASH, EXCESS MATERIAL DEBRIS, ETC. FROM THE SITE UPON COMPLETION OF PROJECT PRIOR TO INSPECTION AND APPROVAL BY THE OWNER AND APPROVING AGENCIES. 17. ADEQUATE DRAINAGE SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION AND ANY DRAINAGE DITCH OR STRUCTURE DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE RESTORED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNING AUTHORITY. MAY 1985 18. PLACEMENT OF ALL SIGNS, MARKINGS AND BARRICADES, SIGN COLORS AND LAYOUTS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TEXAS MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES (TMUTCD), LATEST EDITION. 1980 THE ACCURACY OF THE INFORMATION CAN NOT BE GUARANTEED AND ITS USE IN NO WAY RELIEVES THE CONTRACTOR OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSSES DUE TO INACCURACY. 3. CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS, LOCATIONS, ELEVATIONS AND CONDITIONS ON EXISTING FACILITIES BEFORE COMMENCING WORK. IT SHALL BE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO REPORT ANY DISCREPANCIES TO THE CITY ENGINEER IMMEDIATELY. 4. THE LOCATION OF ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES IS SHOWN IN AN APPROXIMATE WAY. THE CITY EXPECTS THE CONTRACTOR TO PRELOCATE, BY WHATEVER MEANS MAY BE REQUIRED (METAL DETECTION EQUIPMENT, PROBES, EXCAVATION, SURVEY), ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES AND FACILITIES BEFORE TRENCHING AND MASS EXCAVATING. CONTRACTOR AGREES TO BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGES WHICH MIGHT BE CAUSED BY HIS FAILURE TO LOCATE AND PRESERVE THESE UNDERGROUND UTILITIES AND FACILITIES. 5. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY LOCATION OF PRIVATE UNDERGROUND UTILITY LINES BY CONTACTING THE HOUSTON AREA UTILITY COORDINATING COMMITTEE ONE CALL SYSTEM AT 713-223-4567 OR 1-800-669-8344, FOURTY-EIGHT (48) HOURS BEFORE BEGINNING WORK. 6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE CITY ENGINEER 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF COMMENCING CONSTRUCTION. 7. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE GOVERNMENTAL OR PRIVATE AGENCY AT LEAST 48 HOURS BEFORE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON FACILITIES NOT IN A CITY OF HOUSTON RIGHT-OF-WAY OR EASEMENT. 8. CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSURE THAT ALL CONSTRUCTION PERMITS HAVE BEEN OBTAINED INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ALL CONSTRUCTION PERMITS REQUIRED BY THE "REGULATIONS OF HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR FLOOD PLAIN MANAGEMENT", PRIOR TO COMMENCMENT OF WORK AT NO ADDITIONAL EXPENSE TO THE OWNER. REQUIRED PERMITS THAT CAN ONLY BE ISSUED TO CONTRACTOR WILL BE OBTAINED AT HIS EXPENSE. 9. CONTRACTOR IS CAUTIONED THAT THIS PROJECT IS IN AN OPERATING WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT AND THE CONTRACTOR MUST TAKE ALL PRECAUTIONS REQUIRED TO INSURE THE OPERABILITY OF THE PLANT INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, COORDINATION THE CONTINUOUS OPERATION OF THE FACILITY WITH THE OWNER. 10. CONTRACTOR SHALL COOPERATE AND COORDINATE WITH THE CITY, COUNTY AND OTHER CONTRACTORS WORKING WITHIN THE PROJECT AREA AS PER THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. 11. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ADEQUATELY PROTECTING ALL EXISTING FACILITIES, STRUCTURES, UTILITIES, TREES AND ALL OTHER ITEMS FROM DAMAGE. 12. ANY DAMAGE TO EXISTING FACILITIES CAUSED BY CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REPAIRED BY CONTRACTOR AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. 13. EXISTING PAVEMENT, CURBS, SIDEWALKS AND DRIVEWAYS REMOVED OR DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY OF HOUSTON STANDARDS. 14. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING REQUIRED SECURITY TO PROTECT HIS OWN PROPERTY, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK IN PROGRESS. 15. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONDUCT THEIR OPERATIONS IN A MANNER SUCH THAT TRUCKS AND OTHER CONSTRUCTION RELATED VEHICLES DO NOT CREATE A DIRT NUISANCE OR SAFETY HAZARD IN ANY STREET, PUBLIC OR PRIVATE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEAN DIRT FROM ALL STREETS ON A DAILY BASIS. 19. CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH OSHA REGULATIONS AND STATE OF TEXAS LAW CONCERNING EXCAVATION, TRENCHING AND SHORING. 20. ALL WORK SHALL BE COMPLETED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE CITY ENGINEER. 21. ALL ITEM SHOWN ARE PROPOSED UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. 22. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL ALL EQUIPMENT AND RELATED ACCESSORIES TO OPERATE IN THE MANNER INTENDED BY THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE MANUFACTURER AND BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL APPLICIBLE CODES AND CONTRACT SPECIFICATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE THE WORK BETWEEN THE VARIOUS TRADES AND SUB CONTRACTORS TO PROVIDE A COMPLETE INSTALLATION SO THE EQUIPMENT IS OPERATIONAL AT THE COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT. THE COMPLETED WORK WILL NOT LACK ANY PART WHICH CAN BE REASONABLY BE IMPLIED AS INCIDENTAL FOR PROPER AND USEFUL OPERATION OF THE FACILITY. THIS INCLUDES ALL ITEMS OF EQUIPMENT, LABOR AND MATERIALS, WHETHER OR NOT SHOWN ON THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, WHERE SUCH ITEMS ARE REQUIRED TO FULFILL THE INTENT OF THE CONTRACT, AND WILL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CODE REQUIREMENT, STANDARDS OR REGULATORY AGENCIES, MANUFACTURERS' RECOMMENDATIONS, AND ACCEPTABLE INDUSTRY PRACTICE. THIS WILL BE DONE AND EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED AT NO COST TO THE CITY. 23. THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD EXPECT TO ENCOUNTER STABILIZED SOIL WITHIN 2 FEET OF PIPELINES, STRUCTURES, PAVEMENTS, AND ALL SITE IMPROVEMENTS. EXCAVATION AND REMOVAL OF ANY STABILIZED MATERIAL REQUIRED SHALL BE AT NO COST TO THE CITY. CENTERPOINT ENERGY NOTES CAUTION- UNDERGROUND GAS FACILITIES LOCATIONS OF CENTERPOINT ENERGY MAIN LINES (TO INCLUDE UNIT GAS TRANSMISSION AND/OR INDUSTRIAL GAS SUPPLY CORPORATION WHERE APPLICABLE) ARE SHOWN IN AN APPROXIMATE LOCATION ONLY. HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT, PROPERTY MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT, SHALL BE NOTIFIED IN WRITING AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. COPIES OF THE "PRECONSTRUCTION NOTIFICATION", THE APPROVED PLANS, AND ALL APPLICABLE PERMITS ARE REQUIRED AT THIS TIME. (IF A NON -FLOOD CONTROL FEATURE IS PROPOSED, A COPY OF THE FULLY EXECUTED INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT FOR MAINTENENCE OF THE NON -FLOOD CONTROL FEATURE IS ALSO REQUIRED). 2. PRIOR TO REQUESTING INSPECTION, THE HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT RIGHT-OF-WAY AND/OR PUBLIC DRAINAGE EASEMENTS MUST BE STAKED AND FLAGGED. 3. BACKFILL SHALL BE COMPACTED IN NO GREATER THAN 8 INCH LIFTS TO NOT LESS THAN 95% OF MAXIMUM STANDARD DRY DENSITY (ASTM D698) WITHIN PLUS OR MINUS 3% OF OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT. 7. EXCAVATE CHANNEL FLOWLINE TO DESIGN ELEVATION AS SHOWN ON PLANS AND DOWNSTREAM, AS NECESSARY, TO ENSURE NO WATER IN STORM SEWER DURING "DRY" CONDITIONS. 8. MAINTAIN FLOW IN CHANNEL DURING CONSTRUCTION AND RESTORE CHANNEL TO ORIGINAL CONDITION. 9. REMOVE ALL EXCAVETED MATERIAL FROM THE HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT OR DRAINAGE RIGHT-OF-WAY. NO FILL IS TO BE PLACED WITHIN A DESIGNATED FLOOD PLAIN AREA WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING A FILL PERMIT FROM THE APPROPRIATE JURISDICTIONAL AUTHORITY. 10.
