ORDINANCE NO. 664-H
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE 664, BY ADDING A
PROVISION REQUIRING THAT A MASTER ELECTRICIAN WHO IS EMPLOYED
BY AN ELECTRICAL CONTRACTING FIRM BE EMPLOYED BY ONLY ONE FIRM
AND THAT HIS EMPLOYMENT BE FULL TIME; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON
VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF
A MISDEMEANOR, AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT
EXCEEDING TWO HUN:DRED DOLLARS ($200.00); AND PROVIDING AN EFFEC-
TIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY ,THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1., Ordinance No. 664 of the City of La Porte,
popularly known as the "City of La.Porte Electrical Code",
heretofore passed, and approved on the 18th day of January,
1963, is hereby amended, by changing Section 4, which shall
hereafter read as fqllows:
"Section 4. MASTER ELECTRICIAN. The holders of the
licenses' provided for in Sections 2 and 3 shall be known
as Master Electricians.
"All f.1aster Electricians shall be assigned a number
which will .be his.permanent identification; this assigned
number will appear on the Master Electrician's license
each year when renewed and shall be displayed in his cur-
rent place of bus~ness.
"A Master Electrician who is employed as a Master Elec-
tric'ian for a pers'on, firm or corporation shall take out
electrical permits only for that person, firm or corporation,
and shall supervise, direct and control the electrical work
for which the electrical permit is obtained. To insure
proper supervision of electrical work as required by this
ordinance, a Master Electrician, may not be employed or other-
wise affiliated with more than one electrical contracting
firm. Such:employment or affiliation shall be on a full
time permanent basis. .
"A Master Electrician who is engaged in the electrical
business for himself shal1 take out electrical permits
for his business only and no electrical permit shall be
taken out by any Master Electrician that he does not super-
vise, direct and control the electrical work for which
the permit w~s obtained.
"It is her~by intended to prevent a Master Electrician
from'securing a permit for the purpose of abating the spirit
and intent of this Ordinance by entering into any simulated
sch~me, transaction or device, whereby electrical work
will: be done by, persons who are,not employees of the Master
Electrician, or employees of his employer."
Sectiol) 2. Any' person,. as defined in Section 1.07 (27) ,

conviction shall be punished by a fine not to exceed Two
Hundred Dollars ($200.00), and in case of wilful and contin-
uous violation of the provisions of this Ordinance by any
such person or his or its agent, the City Commission shall
have the power to revoke and repeal all permits and privileges
granted to said person or agent.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be effective on April I,
1979, which is'greater'than fourteen (14) days after its pas-
sage and approval. The City Clerk shall give notice of the

published in the official newspaper in the City of La Porte
at least twice within ten (10) days after the passage of this
ordinance.
