'. .'e', ~. : e.... .,~ e..' .....----..... e,\ . . --1 ORDINANCE NO. /.7 / AN ORDINANCE OFFERING A REWARD OF $250.00 FOR THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF ANY PERSON GUILTY OF ARSON IN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, DEFINING ARSON, PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF SUCH REWARD, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMJ;SSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, THAT: THERE BE AND THERE IS HEREBY OFFERED to any person or persons who shall be responsible for, or who shall furnish information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person guilty of arson committed within the cor- porate limits of the City of La Porte, a reward in the sum of $250.00, the same to be paid to such person or persons by the City Treasurer of the City of La Porte out of the general funds of said city upon proof to the City Com- mission of the City of La Porte that such person or persons are in fact responsi - ble for, or have furnished information leading to, the arrest and conviction of such criminal, and after resolution duly passed by such City Commission find- ing such facts and authorizing such payment. By the term "Arson" as used herein is meant the willful burning of any house; and by the word "house" is meant any building, edifice, or structure en- closed within walls and covered, whatever may be the material used for build- ing. The offense of arson authorizing the payment of the reward aforesaid shall be deemed complete when the fire has actually been communicated to a house, though it may be neither destroyed nor seriously injured. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with terms and provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
