ORDINANCE NO. 7 t1tfl AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING ON FINAL READING THE HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF 1A PORTE, TE~S, AND EXTENDING THE BOUN- n~RY LIMITS OF THE SAID CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, PROVIDING T~T SUCH ORDINANCE S~LL NOT IMPAIR OR AFFECT ANY OTHER ANNE:xATION ORDINANCE WHETHER PASSED ON FIRST OR FINAL R&~DING, PROVIDING THAT THE INHABITANTS OF THE TERRITORY HEREBY' ANNEXED SHALL BE ENTITLED TO THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF IA PORTE, AND SHALL ,BE BOUND BY THE ACTS, ORDINANCES, ETC. OF SAID CITY: AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CIA USE. WHEREAS, th~ City of La Porte has heretofore adopted a Home Rule Charter authorizing it to annex territory and to extend the corporate limits of said City by action of the City Commission; and WHEREAS, th~ hereinafter described land is adjacent to the present City limits 'of the City of La Porte, and lies within the annexation jurisdiction of the City of La Porte, and has here- tofore been annexed on first reading by ordinances of the City of La Porte, and the members of the City Commission of the City of La Porte have concluded that said area should be annexed and made a part of the City of La Porte, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF IA PORTE, TEXAS, T~T: Section 1. That the following described territory be, and the same is hereby, annexed to the City of La Porte, Texas; and the boundary limits of the City of La Porte, Texas, be, and the same are hereby, extended to include the following described territory within the City Limits of the City of La Porte, and the same shall hereafter be included within the territorial limits of the said City, and the inhabitants thereof shall hereafter be entitled to all right~ and privileges of ~Eher citizens of the City of La Porte, and they shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of said City. All the territory lying within the limits described as follows, to-wit: BEGINNING at a point where the South boundary line of the Wm. P. Harris Survey, A-29, intersects with the shoreline of San Jacinto Bay, said point being in one (1) of the present City Limit lines of the City of La Porte; THENCE in a Northerly 'direction, following the meanders of the shoreline of San Jacinto Bay, to the intersection of the shoreline of San Jacinto Bay and the North boundary line of the said,Wm. P. Harris Survey, A-29; THENCE in an Easterly direction along an Easterly projec- tion of the North boundary line of the Wm. P. Harris Sur- vey, A-29, a distance of two thousand (2,000) feet to a point for corn~r; THENCE in a Southerly direction a distance of five (5) feet, along a line perpendicular and at right angles to said Easterly projection of said North boundary line of the said Wm. P. Harris Survey, A~29, to a point for corner; THENCE in a Westerly direction along an imaginary line five (5) feet South of and parallel to an ':Easterly pro- jection of the North boundary line of the said Wm. P. Harris Survey, A-29, to a point for corner five (5) feet East of the shoreline of San Jacinto Bay; THENCE in a Southerly direction along an imaginary line five (5) feet East of , and parallel to the shoreline of San Jacinto Bay, .and following the meanders of the shore- line of San Jacinto Bay, to a point where said imaginary line intersects with the South boundary line of the Wm. P. Harris Survey, A-29, projected in an Easterly direction; THENCE Westerly along said Easterly projection of the said South boundary line of the said Wm. P. THENCE in a Northerly direction along an imaginary line one hundred (100) feet East of and ~arallel to the East right-of....way line of ~tate Highway 134 a distance of three thousand four hundred (3,400) feet to a point for corner, said point being, in one (1) of the present City Limit lines of the City of La Porte, and the Place of Beginning of the tract described and annexed herein: THENCE in an Easterly direction along an imaginary line perpendicular and at right angles to the East right-of- way line'of State Highway 134 a distance of fifteen 'hundred (1500) feet to a point for corner: THENCE in a Southerly direction a distance of five (5) feet along an imaginary line fifteen hundred (1500) feet East of and parallel to the East right-of-way line of State Highway 134, to a point for corner: e. All of the territory lying within the limits described as follows, to-wit: BEGINNING at the intersection of Little Cedar Creek and the East right-orway line of State Highway 146 (also known as South Broadway Street), said point being in one (1) of the present City Limit lines of the City of La Porte, Texas; THENCE in a Southerly direction along the East right-of- way line, of said State Highway 146 to the intersection of said East right-of-way line of said State Highway 146 and the North boundary line crthat portion of Shoreacres Subdivision lying East of said State Highway 146, accor- ding to the map or plat of said Subdivision recorded in Volume 7, Pages 10 and 11, of the Map Records of Harris County, Texas, for a point for corner; THENCE in an Easter'ly direction along the North boundary line of that portion of Shoreacres Subdivision lying East of said State Highway 146 a distance of five (5) feet to a point for corner; THENCE in a Norther'ly direction along an imaginary line five (5) feet East of and parallel ,to the East right-of- way line of said State Highway 146 to the intersection of said imaginary line and the North bank of Little Cedar Creek; THENCE in a Westerly direction along and following the meanders of the North bank of Little Cedar Creek a dis- tance of five (5) feet, more or less, to the place of beginning hereof. . Railroad) said point being in one of the present City Limit lines of the City of La porte: THENCE in a Southerly direction along the East right-of- way line of the satd G.H. & S.A. Railroad to the North boundary line of that portion of Shoreacres Subdivision lying West of State Highway 146, according to the map or plat of such Shoreacres Subdivision recorded in Volume 7, Pages 10 and II, of the Map Records of Harris County, Texa s : . THENCE in an Easterly direction along the North boundary line of ,that portion of Shoreacres Subdivision lying West of State Highway 146 a distance of five (5) feet to a point for corner: THENCE in a Northerly direction along an imaginary line paralle~ to and five" (5) feet East of the East right-of- way line of said G. H. & S. A. Railroad and the Place of Beginning hereof. '. . ~ '. .'- . . .'~ ~,[~. . -15- Section 1~ Should any section or part of this ordinance be held unconstitutional, illegal or invalid, such unconstitution- ality, illegality, or invalidity of such section or part shall in no wise affect, impa~r or invalidate the remaining portion thereof, but as to such remaining portion the same shall be and remain in full force and effect; and- should this ordinance for any reason be ineffective as to any part of the area hereby annexed to the City of La Porte, such -ineffectiveness of this ordinance as to a,ny such part or parts of any such area shall not affect the effective- ness of this ordinance as to all of the remainder of such area, and City Commission hereby declares it to be its purpose to annex to the City of La Porte every part of the area described in Sec- tions 1 through 10 of this ordinance, regardless of whether any other part of the land therein described is hereby effectively annexed to the City. SectionI2. This ordinance shall not repeal, impair, modify or in-any wise affect any other annexation ordinance of the City of La Porte, whether passed on first or final read- ing, but such' other ordinance or ordinances shall remain and continue to be effective to their intent and purpose as therein stated, wholly unaffected in any way or manner by the passage of this ordinance.
