AN ORDINANCE AME~DING ORDINANCE NO. 705 (AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING
RULES AND REGULA~IONS GOVERNING THE PLATTING OR RE-PLATTING OF
LAND IN THE SUBDIVISIONS IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND WITHIN THE
EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE); AND
PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE
SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL
BE FINED IN ANY SUM NOT LESS THAN TEN DOLLARS ($10.00) NOR MORE
THAN TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) AND EACH DAY OF VIOLATION
SHALL BE DEEMED A SEPARATE OFFENSE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. Section 11~5 of Ordinance 705.is hereby
amended t:o read as follows :

"11.05 STRE:E:T LIGHTING. Street lighting at all street
intersect:ions and cul-de-sacs shall conform to the latest edition
of the Illuminating Engineering Society Handbook. Round tapered
standards with bracket arms shall be used. Lighting levels are
reconunended for very light tra'ffic, med.:j..um traffic on feeder
streets, and heavy traffic on thoroughfares. Street lighting
shall be provided upon all other streets of the subdivision, but
need not conform to the light intensity requirements of the said
Illuminat:ing Engineering Society Handbook, at points within the
subdivision other than street intersections and cul-de-sacs.

"It is the present policy of the Housto~, Lighting and
Power Company. to accept orders only from the' City for electric
street li.ghts to be installed within the city limits. Accord-
ingly, the developer or owner of the land to be subdivided,
or land \<';rhich 'has been subdivided, within the city limits,
shall make application for electric street lights to the City.
Such application shall be accompanied by a copy of the plat
of the su.bdivision" showing thereon the requested location(s)
of the electric street li~hts. The application shall also be
accompanied by the developer's or owner's payment to the City
of the sum of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) for each
requested electric street light, to reimburse the City for
the operational cost of the' street light for the first five
(5) years. Upon approval of the location of the street light
locations by the City Engineer~ the City will place an order
for the installation of' the electric street lights with Houston
Lighti~g & Power Company.
"Owners or developers of land situated outside of the
city limits may continue. to deal directly with Houston Light-
ing & Power Company for street light installation."
Section 2. .Penal ties. Any person violating this
ordinance or anh portion thereof shall upon conviction be
guilty of a miseameanor and shall be fined not less than Ten
Dollars ($lO.OO) nor more than Two Hu.ndred Dollars ($200.00) and
each q,ay that such violation continues shall constitute a
separate offense and be punishable accordingly.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be

tion as required by law.
