<br />- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 7 ;17 <br />I <br />AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE PORTION <br />OF WEST "A" STREET LYING WITHIN THE AREA BOUNDED BY SOUTH <br />TENTH STREET (10TH) .AND SOUTH ELEVENTH STREET (11TH), AND <br />BETWEEN BLOCK TWENTY-SIX (26) AND BLOCK FORTY-SEVEN (47), <br />IN THE TOWN OF, LA PORTE 1 HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS <br /> <br />WHEREASJ the City Commission of the City of La Porte <br />has been requested by the record owner of all of the property <br />abutting West "All Street between South Tenth (10th) Street and <br />South Eleventh (11th) StreetJ to vacateJ abandonJ and permanently <br />close that 'portion of West "A", Streetj and <br />WHEREAS 1 ~hat portion of West IIA" Street lying and being <br />situated between South Ninth (9th) Street and South Tenth (10th) <br /> <br />StreetJ although now opened to trafficJ will become a part of the <br />right-of-way for the relocation of State Highway 1461 andJ there- <br />fore, that portion of West 'lIA" Street here sought to be abandoned <br />would thereafter IIdead-endll into said Highway right-of-waYj and <br />WHEREASJ the said portion of West IIA" Street between <br />South Tenth (lOth) Street and South Eleventh (11th) Street has <br /> <br />never been opened or used as a public road or streetj and <br />WHEREASJ said portion of West "A" Street is one block <br />South of and parallel to Spencer HighwaYJ also known as West Main <br />Street in La PorteJ which is a main traffic artery and thorough- <br />.or <br /> <br />fare in the City of La PorteJ and will in the future continue to <br />~ furnish all needed access and thoroughfares for traffic of any <br />natureJ together with the relocated State Highway l46j and <br />WHEREASJ that portion of West IIA" StreetJ located be- <br />tween South Tenth (10th) Street and South Eleventh (11th) StreetJ <br />should it ever be opened 'between said StreetsJ would "dead-end" <br />at the West, right-of-way line of said State Highway l46J only one <br />block from a major grade separation on said State Highway l46J and <br />would therefore be ,a hazard to pedestrians and traffic of all <br /> <br />46 <br /> <br />naturesj and <br /> <br />WHEREASJ the City Commission'of the City of La Porte <br />has determined and does hereby findl determine and declare that <br />
