<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />..- - <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 7 # <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE VACATING~ ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE PORTION OF <br />SEVENTH STREET LYING BETWEEN THE AREA BOUNDED BY II JII STREET <br />AND "K" STREET~ AND BETWEEN BLOCK ELEVEN HUNDRED TWO (1102) <br />AND BLOCK ELEVEN HUNDRED THREE (1103) IN THE TOWN OF LA PORTE~ <br />HARRIS COUNTY ~ TEXAS. <br /> <br />.a 'J" <br /> <br />WHEREAS~ the City Commission of the City of La Porte <br />has been requested by the record owners of all of the property <br />abutting Seventh Street between "JII Street and IIK" Street~ to <br />vacate~ abandon~ and permanently close that portion of Seventh <br />Street; and <br />WHEREAS, the said portion..of Seventh Street between <br />"J" Street and ilK" Street has never been opened or used as a <br /> <br />public road or street; and <br />WHEREAS, IIJ" Street and Eighth Street are presently~ <br />and will in the future continue to furnish all needed access <br /> <br />and~thbroughfares for traffic of any nature; and <br />WHEREAS~ said portion of Seventh Street is one block <br />East of and parallel to Eighth Street~ which is a main traffic <br />artery and thoroughfare in the City of La Porte~ and will in the <br /> <br />,:..- <br /> <br />future continue to furnish all needed access and thoroughfares <br />for traffic of any nature~ together with "J" Street~ also known <br />'e>' as. Fairmont Parkway~ and State Highway 146~ as relocated; and <br />WHEREAS~ that portion of Seventh Street located between <br />"J" Street and "K" Street~ should it ever be opened between said <br />, <br /> <br />~t~eets~ would 'he~d-end" at the Creek which crosses the unopened <br />right-of-way of Seventh Street, south of "K" Street, which Greek <br />has been bridged at the point where it crosses the right-of-way <br />of Eighth Street~ and which ~he City of La Porte could not now, <br />or in the reasonably foreseeable future, economically justify <br />bridging at the point where it crosses the right-of-way of Seventh <br />Street; and <br />WHEREAS, therefore, said Seventh Street~ should it be <br />opened as a public thoroughfare south of "J" Street, as such <br /> <br />"dead-end" street, would be a hazard to pedestrians and traffic <br />
