ORDINANCE NO. 780- E
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 780, THE CITY OF LA PORTE
ZONING ORDINANCE, BY CHANGING THE DEFINITION OF "FRONT LOT
LINElI AS TO PROPERTY FRONTING ON BAYSHORE DRIVE; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE,
TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of
La Porte hereby finds, determines and declares that heretofore,
to-wit, on the 30tlrlay of March
, 1970, at 7:00 o'clock P.M.,
a, Joint public hearing was held before the Planning and
Zoning Commission, and the City Commission of the City of
La Porte, Texas, pursuant to due notice, to consider the question
of the pOSSible change in the definition of lIfront lot line"
as contained in said Ordinance, as to property located on
Bayshore Drive facing Galveston Bay.
Section 2. The Publisher's Affidavit of pUblication
of notice of said hearing is attached hereto as "Exhibit A,II
incorporated by reference herein and made a part hereof for
all purposes.
Section 3. Subsequent to such public hearing, the
City of La Porte Planning and Zoning Commission met in special
session on March 30, 1970, the same date, after the close
. of such Joint public hearing, to consider the proposed change
which was the subject of such joint public hearing. The

City Commission of the City of La Porte is in receipt of the
written recommendations of the City of La Porte Planning and
Zoning Commission, by letter March 30 , 1970, the original
of which letter is attached hereto as Exhibit B," incorporated
by reference herein, and made a part hereof for all purposes.
Section 4. The City Commission of the City of
La Porte hereby accepts the recommendations of the City of
La Porte Planning and Zoning Commission, and Section 7-154 of
the Zoning Ordinance of the City of La Porte, is hereby
amended to hereafter read as follows, to-wit:

Lot Line, Front. A "front lot line" is that
boundary of a building lot which is the line of
an existing or dedicated street. Upon corner lots
either street line may be selected as the front
lot line providing a front and rear yard are pro-
vided adjacent and opposite, respectively mthe
front lot line. In the case of building lots
abutting Roscoe Avenue, or building lots abutting
that portion of Bayshore Drive lying Northeast
of Grove street, which lots also front' on the
shoreline of Galveston Bay, the "front lot linell
is that boundary of said lots fronting on the
shoreline of Galveston Bay.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall be in effect from
and after its passage and approval.

Monday, March 30, 1970, following a
public hearing members of the Planning
and Zoning Commission voted unanimously
on the following motion:
That Block 30, Nebraska Syndicate, be
re-zoned from R-l Residential to Mobile
Home Park.

At a special meeting of the La Porte Planning
and Zoning Commission on July 14th, 1970, the
Commission unanimously voted to recommend that City
Ordiance No. 780 be changed to read "duplex dwellings
can be built in Zones R~l and R-2 by special permit
only".
