AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE PRESCRIBING RATES FOR LOCAL EXCHANGE TELEPHONE 'SERVICE FURNISHED BY SOUTHWESTERN BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY, AND REPEALING ALL OTHER ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN 'CONFLICT HEREWITH. WHEREAS, the telephone service needs of the citizens of the City of La Porte can best be served by the elimination of interzone mess~ge cha!ges thro~ghout the Houston Metropolitan Excha~ge, which includes the City of La Porte,; and WHEREAS, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company has expressed its willi~gness to make such cha~ges in its service arra~gement; and . WHEREAS, such elimination of interzone message cha!ges within ~he Houston Metropolitan Excha~ge will involve sub- stantial additional capital investment on the part of South- western Bell Telephone Company; and WHEREAS, the projected costs and projected revenue to be incurred and derived from the expansion of the Houston Metro- politan Excha~ge to eliminate such interzone mess~ge cha!ges t~gether with cha~ges in the fair value of the company's plant, expenses of operation and revenues which will result from the . expansion and. growth of such excha~ge in the Houston Metropolitan area indicate that the present rates authorized to be charged by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company will be insufficient to provide the company with a fair return on the value of its property used and useful in providi~g telephone service: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CI1Y,OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. That Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, upon the elimination of interzone cha!ges thro~ghout the Housto'n Metropolitan Exchange, ,is hereby authorized to cha!ge for local telephone service in the, City of La Porte the follow- i~g rates for the classes of service~ listed: ,
