ORDINANCE NO. 822
AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
COMPOSED OF THREE MEMBERS; SE~TING THE DATE OF
ITS FIRST MEETING; AND PRESCRIBING ITS POWERS
AND DUTIES; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE,
TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1.:
The hereinafter named three residents,
each of whom is a qualified voter and real property owner in
the City of La Porte, are hereby appointed to the Board of
Equalization for a one-year term, or until their successors shall
have been appointed:
Charles R. Norris
Frank R. Boyle. Jr.
D. F. Sheffield
Section 2.
Such Board of Equalization shall choose
from its membership a Chairman. The City Tax Assessor-Collector
shall be ex-oficio Secretary of the Board. A majority of said
Board shall cons~itute a quorum for the transaction of business.
The Board of Equalization shall hold its first meeting at a time
to be set by it, on the 10~ day of March, 1969, or as soon there-
after as practicable.
Section 3. The Board of Equalization shall have all of
the powers and duties prescribed by Article VIII, Sections 76
through 79, both inclusive, of the City Charter of the City of
La Porte.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approv.al.
