ORDINANCE NO. 833 .; AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE TO INSTITUTE 'PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX CERTAIN TERRITORY: CALLING A PU~LIC HEARING AT wHICH ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHALL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO 'BE HEARD; PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION OF NOTICE OF SUCH .HEARINGBY ,THE PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECT,IVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAIN~D BY 'THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. The City Conunission of the, City of La Porte '. herepy declares its intention to institute annexation proceed- ings i to annex the followi~g described territo,ry to the City of L~ Porte by the pass~ge of an ordinance of annexation extending the, general, corporate limits of the City of La Porte for all purposes to include within such territory all of the following described territory now situated within the exclusive extraterritorial Jurisdiction of the, City of La Porte. As used herein, .the term extraterritorial jurisdiction shall have the Same meani~g ascribed to it as is ascribed to ,it in the Municipal Annexation Act of 1963, compiled as Article 970a, Vernon's Annotated Texas Statutes: BEGINNING at a point on the present city limit line of the City of La Porte, at the Southwest corner of the La Porte Municipal Airport; :. THENCE in a Northerly direction along the West boundary line of the said airport to its Northwest corner,said corner being in the South line, or a projection thereof, ,of La Porte Outlot Four Hundred E~ghty (480), ,for a point for corner; THENCE in a westerly direction along the South boundary line of said La Porte Outlot Four Hundred Eighty (4,80)" or its Easterly projection, and 'continuing along the South line of La Porte Outlots Four Hundred Eighty-one (481) through Four Hundred Ninety (490), or a Westerly projection thereof, to an intersection with the East right-of-way line of Underwood Road, for a point for corner; THENCE in a Southerly direction along the East right-of-way line of Underwo,od Road, crossi~g Spencer Highway, and continuing along said East right-of-way line ,of Underwood Road., and its , Southerly projection, ,to an intersection with the , South ,right-of-way line of Fairmont Parkway, for a point' for corner: '. THENCE in an Easterly direction along the South right-of-way line of Fairmont Parkway to an inter- section with ,the East line of the W. M. Jones Survey, Abs. 482, ,for a point for corner; . Jones Survey, ,Abs'. 482, ,to an intersection with the North right-of-way line of Spencer Highway, for a point for corner: T:t{ENCE in a westerly direction along the North right-of-way line of Spencer Highway to the PLACE OF BEGINNING, ,said parcel conti:dning 1,410 ,acres, more or less. ' Section 2. The City Commission of the City of La Porte hereby calls a public heari~g at which all interested persons shall have an opportunity to be heard upon such proposal to annex the territory described above" which heari~g shall be held in the City Commission Chambers, ,City Hall, City of La Porte, ,La Porte, Texas, at ,seven 0' clock P.M. on the 24th, day of November, ,A. D. 1969. .' section 3. The annexation proceedi~g of which notice of intention 'to. annex is, given by this ordinance shall be instituted not less than ten (10), days nor more than twenty (2.0) days subsequent to such public heari?g. Section ,4. The City Clerk of the City, of La Porte is he,re,by, directed to cause notice of such public hearing to be, given by publication o! this Ordinance in the La Porte- Bayshore Sun, and also in the Houston Post, poth of said newspapers havi~g, general circulation in the City of La Porte and in the territory proposed to be annexed, such publica- .... tions to be made at least once in each of such newspapers, not more than twenty (20) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to the date 'of such public heari~g. Section,S. This Ordinance shall be effec.tive immediately upon its pass~ge and approval. The City Commission of the City of La Porte hereby calls a public hearing at which all interested persons shall have an opportunity to be heard upon such proposal to annex the territory described above, which hearing ~hall De held in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, City' of La Porte, La Po~te, Texas, at seven o'clock P.M. on Lne 24th day of November, A.D. 1969. Section 3. The annexation proceeding of wh1ch notice of intention to annex is given by this ordinance shal. be instituted not less than ten (10) days nor more than twenty (20) days subsequent to such puulic hearinf:-l. Section 4.
