ORDINANCE NO. 2005-~3/3
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE SALE OF LOTS 11 THROUGH
14 AND LOTS 15 THROUGH 18, ALL IN BLOCK 242, IN THE TOWN OF LA
PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, TO NEIGHBORHOOD CENTERS, INC., THE
HIGHEST BIDDER FOR CASH, AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A SPECIAL
WARRANTY DEED, FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW, AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of La Porte hereby
authorizes and approves the sale of the following described real
property, to-wit:
Lots 11 through 18, in Block 242, of Town of La Porte, a
subdivision in Harris County, Texas, according to the map
or plat thereof recorded in Volume 60, Page 113 of the
Map Records of Harris County, Texas, reference to which
is here made for all purposes, together with all
improvements thereon situated.
PARKING EASEMENT: Grantor agrees to allow Grantee and
its patrons, during normal business hours, use of the
parking area at the adjacent City of La Porte Evelyn
Kennedy Center, for Grantee's overflow parking, which use
shall be in common with the Evelyn Kennedy Center. The
approximate number of overflow parking spaces is ten (10)
spaces.
to Neighborhood Centers, Inc., a Texas non-profit corporation, the
highest bidder, for a cash bid of $42,240.00.
The City Council
authorizes the City Manager to execute, and the City Secretary to
attest, the Special Warranty Deed in form attached hereto, and any
and all other documents necessary to complete the conveyance.
Section 2. The City Council officially finds, determines,
recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date,
hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was
posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the
City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as
required by the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Texas Government

Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required
by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject
matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted
upon.
The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms
such written notice and the contents and posting thereof.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be effective from and after
its passage and approval, and it is so ordered.

SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION
Advertised, Sealed Bid#SOO]0 - Sale of Property at 526 San Jacinto Street were opened and read on
Monday, February 28, 2005. An offer to respond was sent to Neighborhood Centers Inc. and they were
the only bidder to respond.
Neighborhood Centers Inc. submitted a bid in the amount of $42,250, exceeding the minimum bid
required. As a qualification of the bid, a cashier's check was submitted for 20% of the total bid.

and Lots 15 through 18, all in Block 242, in the Town of La Porte, a subdivision of Harris County, Texas.
