BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section 1. The following Chapter of "Appendix A -- Fees," of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte are hereby and shall hereafter read as follows. The amendments contained in this ordinance shall be effective December 1, 2004, unless otherwise stated. Section 2. Chapter 50, "Parks and Recreation," Article II. Golf Course, is hereby amended and shall hereafter read as follows, to-wit: "... (c) Green user fees 50-31 (b) . . . (3) senior fees, 60 years of age or older (weekdays only excluding holidays before 11:00 a.m.) a. Resident senior citizens......... 8.50 b. Nonresident senior citizens. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 11. 50 (4) Junior fees, 17 years of age or younger a. Monday through Friday........... b. Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict only. Section 4. If any section, sentence, phrase, clause, or any part of any section, sentence, phrase, or clause, of this Ordinance shall, for any reason, be held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this Ordinance, and it is hereby declared to be the intention of this City Council to have passed each section, sentence, phrase, or clause, or part thereof, irrespective of the fact that any other section, sentence, phrase, or clause, or part thereof, may be declared invalid. Section 5. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject 2 e e matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. Section 6. This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval. The fees in this ordinance shall be effective December 1, 2004, unless otherwise indicated. Askins City Attorney 3 e e Proposals Junior Fee - We believe instituting a junior fee would make golf more affordable and enticing for families to enjoy our facility. Many families are opting for little league baseball, soccer or fishing because of the cost of green fees. We feel that a junior fee of $10 weekdays and $15 weekends would be fair. Non-Resident Senior age - Make qualifying for senior discounts the same for residents and non-residents (60). We are set at the highest ages in the area at 65. We feel a lot of nonresident seniors that are not yet 65 are opting for other facilities that are more lenient. .. We feel these changes will entice more rounds and make it more affordable to play at Bay Forest Golf Course. I. Add a junior green fee of $ 10.00 on Monday through Friday and $15.00 on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Age of 17 years and younger. 2. Change the non-resident senior age from 65 years to 60 years. The resident senior age is already 60 years. 3. Add a monthly payment plan for annual green fee memberships. Resident-Senior $1000.00 lump sum I or $500.00 down and 11 months @ $60.00 (1160.00 for the year). Resident $1100.00 lump sum I or $500.00 down and II months @ $70.00 ($1270.00 for the year). Non-Resident $1250.00 lump sum I or $500.00 down or II months @ $90.00 ($1490.00 for the year). . There is no change in the lump sum amounts from last year.
