<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 81- 28 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OPPOSING ESTABLISHMENT OF THE HAZARDOUS WASTE <br />DISPOSAL OPERATION (WASTE MANAGEMENT INDUSTRIAL PARK) WHICH <br />GULF COAST WASTE DISPOSAL AUTHORITY PROPOSES AT THE INTERSECTION <br />OF RED BLUFF ROAD AND BAY AREA BOULEVARD IN POPULOUS SOUTHEAST <br />HARRIS COUNTY. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the several entities and persons who became parties <br /> <br />opposing these same regional hazardous waste management facilities <br /> <br />at a location near Ellington Air Force Base opposed that site be- <br /> <br />cause of health threats through air and water pollution in heavily <br /> <br />populated Southeas.t Harris County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these facilities, if sited at Bayport, pose the same <br /> <br />threats to the same population and environment which were posed <br /> <br />by the Ellington site proposal; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in consideration of the long-term responsibility of <br /> <br />the City of La Porte officials to the health and safety of current <br /> <br />and future generations of people in the City of La Porte; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte feels that any such facility <br /> <br />as proposed should be sited away from populated areas, water-sheds <br /> <br />leading to populated areas or areas likely to become populated: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br /> <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS <br /> <br />THAT, the City of La Porte, Texas, opposes the proposed site <br /> <br />.location and desires to become a party in all administrative hear- <br /> <br />ings of matters relative to Gulf Coast Waste Disposal Authority's <br /> <br />Bayport site and join other parties in opposing all permits for <br /> <br />said proposed facilities. <br /> <br />AND IT IS SO ORDERED. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS the 2nd day of December, 1981. <br /> <br />~~~ <br /> <br />J.
