RESOLUTION NO. 83-3
A RESOLU'fION SUPPORTING THE ENACT~iENT OF HOUSE BILL 194
AND URGING ALL EL~C'r8D OPP.ICIALS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS TO PASS SAID
LEGISLATIon AND THE GOVERNOR OF THE: S'fA'fE OF TEXAS TO SIGN THE SANE.
WHEREAS, heretofore prev iOllsly, House Bill 194 has been
filed and is currently before the House of RE;!presentatives of the
State of Texas: and
WHEREAS, said legislation has been submitten to the gen-
eral convention of the Texas Municipal League: and
WHEREAS, the Resolutions Committee of the Texas Municipal
.
League unanimously approved said legislation, and the General
Assembly of the Texas Municipal Lea~ue likewise approved said
legislation; and
~lHEREAS, House Bill 194 provi.les needed flexibility for
cities in the State of Texas to assist the property owners and
residents in said cities in securing replacement of sanitary se~e~
laterals when the same becomes necessary because of the relocation
and/o~ replacement of sanitary sewer mains: and
WHEREAS, the health, safety and well-being of every.
person in any city in the State of Texas fs dependent upon an
efficient system for the transportation of sewage and wastewater
. products; and
~VHEREAS, it may be totally impossible for a resident of
a ci ty, faced with an expend i ture of in excess of $1,000.00, to
secure.a low-cost loan for the money necessary to accomplish such
replacement of a sewer lateral: and
WHEREAS, the residents of Texas cities are fully protected
under the terms of such legislation by reason of their options to
wi thdraw in the event the cost for such work is excessive: NO\~,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE ' TEXAS:

pending in the Texas House of Representatives, having been hereto-
fore previously introduced by Representative Brad ~vright: and be it
further resolved that the City of La Porte
Texas calls upon its elected representatives and senators to support
said legislation and to secure the passage thereof as promptly as
possible: and be it further resolved that the City of
La Porte
, Texas calls upon the Governor of the State
of Texas to sign said legislation into law upon the passage thereof.
